September 13, 201411 yr My Outlook e-mail has recently stopped, and I'm following another lead that requires me to disable ipv6 (my ISP is Comcast, it's the incoming mail server, mail.comcast.net). This follows having to change my internal router to bridging mode... I'm trying to do a registry change: HKEY_LOVAL_MACHINE\system\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP6\Parameters, create a new DWORD "DisabledComponents with ffffffff. What I'm seeing is that there is already a Disabled Components folder in the above path, with a value 0x000008e, and I can't create two folders with the same name. Can anyone shed any light on what the existing folder (DWORD) is doing? Also, anyone successfully disabled ipv6 in Windows 8.1, and is there a better way? Bridging mode disabled DHCP, and I wonder if that isn't my issue, however I'm not sure how to fix that..... I would need an ip address for mail.comcast.net I assume....' Thanks for any help, Bruce. September 14, 201411 yr Author Thanks Jim, the link goes to a procedure that I'm trying to do, but cannot due to the fact that there is already a DWORD with the same name in the respective registry path. Thanks, Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
