I tried creating a direct flight from KSFO to KLAX just to test also adding an approach in PG from SMO to 24R ILS.  I renamed the PLG file to PLN then tried loading into FSX but it wouldn't load.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Under file Save and Save as save in the plg Plan-G format. File/Export gives you a choice of several formats to export the saved file in.

 

When you open a file, Plan-G notices the extension and gets the type to convert it internally to its own data format. There is no import function required.
