Force Radar Contact Into Certian Downwind
OK, I'll just use IAP as I did. I flew it last night using IAP and flew the whole STAR to the FAF. Thanks.

Force Radar Contact Into Certian Downwind
The New RNAV STAR KKILR into KMSP uses a right downwind for 12R and left downwind for 12L. I'm wondering if using NOTAMS you can force the right downwind instead of left which is what RC would do? When I fly this later, I'll be using an IAP since from the last point DOLEE on the STAR I'll go direct to ZESTY then to the FAF. But if not using IAP, I would be curious to know if it's possible to do this. Thanks.

Radar Contact Key Email
I don't have a response from John yet. It's only been a few hours but hopefully he'll respond. The automated system does work, but I couldn't get the key since it said my email was not in the database. So I sent JD my new email and hopefully I'll get the key, thanks.

Radar Contact Key Email
Thanks, hopefully Ron or Ray will reply. I remember the automated service used to work better before. Hopefully I'll get the key.

Radar Contact Key Email
I need a new key and the automated service said that it doesn't have my email in the database. So I emailed my new email to [email protected]. I'm waiting for a response and haven't gotten any yet. Can you please see if I should get it soon? I got a new computer so I need a new key. Thank you.

Using FlightPlanner in FSX.
Try Plan-G. SimBrief won't do what you want. It will give you real world flight plans which is good if you want that, and I use it. With Plan-G, you can zoom into the destination runway, (most of the time it is there) and right click on it and then click on and enable QDM. It will give you a red line and you just drag it wherever you want. Then there's a certain place you go too in Plan-G and I forget, but in one of the menus there is something I think called Information and that will give you the heading and distance where the red line is. So you can drag it about 15 NM out for jets, and about 10NM for the smaller prop planes. You then just click create waypoint. It will come up with a box for you to enter a name for the waypoint you created. There are three places for you to enter them but just enter the same thing in all three. You then have your final approach waypoint. If you are approaching downwind to the runway, you can then from that waypoint hover over it, and do the same thing again as I wrote above, and go out about maybe 5 miles base for the Jets and maybe 3-4 miles base for the prop planes. Then create that waypoint. Then for downwind, just create a parallel line to the runway (it helps if you have the runway heading like the ILS heading in hand) and just estimate where to start the downwind leg. Probably just a little past the airport would be good. Then create the waypoint, and then you have downwind. Your done! You just add these waypoints in Plan-G. The manual will tell you how. It's easy, trust me. Your flight plan will automatically include these waypoints for you to follow. You just follow your own altitudes of course but the horizontal route is done. For base entries, you do about the same thing, but you stop creating the waypoints on the base leg and the route will automatically take you to base. For straight ins or near straight ins, all you really have to do is just create the final waypoint and the flight plan will take you right in. I recommend to follow the 3 and 1 rule for descent. If you have a downwind entry, be about 7 thousand feet on downwind descending to about 4 thousand on base, then 2 thousand for the intercept to the ILS. The three and one rule is you take your altitude say 30,000 feet or FL300 and multiply by 3. So, it would be 30 times 3 which =90. I would always add about 10 miles to it which would be 100 of course and then start your decent. You can follow the 3 and 1 rule for the whole decent. Anyway I hope this has helped you to do what you want and I do this too. I use this when I use SIDS (Standard Instrument Departure) and STARS (Standard Terminal Arrival Route) and since most of these procedures at least in the US require vectors, I can create my own waypoints to follow after the STAR and on vectored SIDS. It works pretty well.

[x-plane] altitude perception
Yea! I always noticed that too. It always bugged me. If Microsoft was still developing flight sim they probably could improve on this.

FSX Honeywell FMC VNAV
Anyone read this yet?

FSX Honeywell FMC VNAV
Does anyone know if the VNAV in this FMC really works. I know the speed works, but do you know if the altitudes will automatically set in the FSX autopilot if they are set in the FMC? Thanks.

Windows 10 and FSX
I was flying then all of a sudden in mid flight, FSX said it encountered an error and exited out. I tried to do a reinstall, but when I went to uninstall it, the setup for the uninstall did not load up. I also tried inserting the FSX disc 1 but I got error 1628 failed to complete installation. Does anyone have any ideas of what to do? Thank you.

FSX error on Windows 10
Well..... now there's two problems. I tried uninstalling FSX so I could do a clean install but FSX wouldn't even uninstall. I deleted all the files of FSX and then tried uninstalling it in the control panel. I ran the uninstall and then the uninstall page wouldn't come up so I couldn't uninstall it. I also tried to insert the FSX disc 1 and then error 1628 came up before the Install screen came up. So... I don't know what to do. Hopefully someone knows what may be going on and to fix this. Thanks in advance.

FSX error on Windows 10
Well, I just installed Windows 10 and decided to fly from KLAX to KORD tonight. As soon as I ended the time acceleration at 16X at about 500 miles out, I resumed speed to normal and it said FSX has encountered an error and it exited out. So I just lost my flight now. Do you know if there is a fix for this so FSX can work and did anyone else encounter this error? Thank you.

Did I miss a waypoint or something?
I think he's experiencing what happened to me at KOAK. ATC sends you on a heading and forgets about you. It's probably a bug but doesn't happen that often. The only thing you can do is request a visual or IAP approach and either follow the STAR or vector yourself in. I hope this can help.

FMC honeywellfmc.zip (Garrett Smith)
Interesting topic, I got this little FMC a few days ago by downloading the updated default 737-800 at http://simviation.com/fsnd/Downloads.htm. I'm starting to learn how to use it. What I really like is the TCAS which shows where the airplanes are and where they are going. It's really cool. Anyway, I pressed calculate VNAV the other day and for some reason, I wondered why the speed kept changing. Silly me, I'm guess I'm used to the complete default 737 without FMC. Anyway, yea, it kept setting my speed what was in the FSX navlog which was the ground speed. I haven't messed with VNAV anymore. Maybe if there's a way to change it and make it more realistic then I'll probably use it. And slightly off topic, but does anyone know with the FSND update know how to turn on the windshield wipers. I tried turning them on with the button in the cockpit, but it didn't work. I'm hoping this is not another bug. I'm sure it all installed right, everything else seems to work. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Newbie flight plan question
You're welcome and hope you get to have a successful flight.

Newbie flight plan question
Well, when you get handed off to approach at 40 miles, as Andy said, you have two options. You have the IAP which means Instrument Approach Procedure and then you have radar vectors. I would stay with radar vectors or if you fly a STAR which takes you to an IAF on the approach then you could fly with no vectors. If you choose to do KBOS to KJFK and decide to use a SID and STAR you may get the STAR for KJFK which takes you to DEER PARK VOR which is the IAF for the 22 and 31 runways at KJFK. If not, then I would stick with vectors. Hope this helps.

Newbie flight plan question
Hmmm, I'm not exactly sure what is going on. Andy's suggestion about flying a longer flight is a good idea. First of all, I do know that direct flights don't really work in Radar Contact. If the flight is short, maybe it will but in your case, it didn't. If the flight is short with a direct flight, what I think Radar Contact would do is give a vector on to your GPS route. Then sometime close to the arrival airport, they should either turn you base or give you a vector to downwind. Oh yeah, if it does work and you get a downwind arrival, since it looks like your flying a smaller aircraft, I would request short final when about 10 miles away from the airport. It's on one of the menus, you'll have to click next to see it. Anyway, I hope this can be of help.

FSX Disc 2 Error
Alright, I've installed it and everything looks good. Thanks.

FSX Disc 2 Error
I'm installing right now. I'll let you know later what happens. Thanks.

FSX Disc 2 Error
OK, I went to install FSX and it worked. I then installed SP1 and SP2 and that worked. But when I went to activate FSX, it said the Scenery.cfg is missing and to reinstall FSX. I searched for the file and it's not there. Is there anything else I can try? Thanks for the help.

FSX Disc 2 Error
At the end of disc 2, FSX says it can't find a file that I can't remember. Sometimes, it also said error 1309. I don't know what this is, if someone else knows that would be great. Anyway, if the option is to reinstall windows 7 then I'll probably just wait for Windows 10. It probably will be compatible, at least folks around here say it probably will be. Anyway, I would love to get FSX working since now I had to go to back to FS9 ( at least that worked). Thanks.
