FSX Disc 2 Error

Featured Replies

At the end of disc 2, FSX says it can't find a file that I can't remember.  Sometimes, it also said error 1309.  I don't know what this is, if someone else knows that would be great.  Anyway, if the option is to reinstall windows 7 then I'll probably just wait for Windows 10.  It probably will be compatible, at least folks around here say it probably will be.  Anyway, I would love to get FSX working since now I had to go to back to FS9 ( at least that worked).  Thanks.

OK, I went to install FSX and it worked.  I then installed SP1 and SP2 and that worked.  But when I went to activate FSX, it said the Scenery.cfg is missing and to reinstall FSX.  I searched for the file and it's not there.  Is there anything else I can try?  Thanks for the help.

The scenery.cfg is a hidden file located in C:\Program Data\Microsoft\FSX.

How to view hidden files:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files#show-hidden-files=windows-7.

When you installed FSX, you should have UAC turned off and any anti-virus program as these programs can adversely affect the proper installation of FSX.  The following guide provides more information:  http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx.

You should have activated FSX once installed.  After activation, then you should have installed SP1 and then SP2 (using Admin Privileges).

Best regards,

Sounds like  you rushed the install. If you didn't run FSX at least to the opening screen of the trike at Friday Harbor at some point during the installation of FSX before adding SP1 and SP2 you may have missed an important step.

Scenery .cfg is read on first load from the main FSX folder and then a version created. If you miss that step you can get the error described, particularly if you hadn't got permissions set right on your rig as Jim says.

As you have to reinstall anyway, reduce UAC to minimum, turn off anti-virus during the installation and don't use the default Program (x86) folder to install the sim, keep it simple as a spur off a root drive - C:/FSX. When installing, right mouse click on the .exe and choose `run as administrator`

Good luck !
