September 22, 201411 yr Hi, I am familiar with Oceanic Procedures etc., however I have a question regarding choosing your preferred route vs turbulence. I am using the following site which depicts High Level SIGWX along with NATs. http://www.jetplan.com/tda/west.html This is TMI265. Now, according to my calculations, NATA would be the most efficient one to choose (fuel & time wise) @FL350. Problem is that it crosses through a moderate turbulence area as it is shown above. Therefore, should I opt for a different NAT track or should I stick with NATA? I mean what is more important: To avoid turbulence at any cost or to choose the most fuel or time efficient one and disregard a bit of turbulence?
September 23, 201411 yr I was thinking of this exact topic last week: how much turbulence is too much. Moderate doesn't too bad according to this http://maps.avnwx.com/help/turb_desc.html I also came across this explanation http://www.askthepilot.com/questionanswers/turbulence/ It sounds like moderate is ok. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
