Please ! Help with this error of visualfx.dll ,

Recommended Posts

I am getting strange FSX Fatal error on start up which is related to visualfx.dll . The strange part is it occurs on starting FSX and sometime it does not occur at all but that happens very rarely!

I have tons of addons installed, I want to try everything not to do re-install that would take me a lot of time, Also my FSX was nicely setup!

I don't have any corrupt logbook

I have deleted/refreshed FSX.cfg

I have done FSX reg repair, I am using latest FSX accel pack.

GPU drivers updated(GTX680 ,I7)

I did not install any new addons

I am using FTXG+Vector+ASN+REX4..Rest are addons of A/C

If any help or suggestion to overcome this? Please let me know

will be highly appreciated

Thanks in advance

According to the AVSIM CTD Guide -

Visualfx.dll – The visualfx.dll is used to display an FSX effect. An effect needed for an aircraft or scenery may not be located in the Effects folder and, when the effect is called by the program, it cannot be found and FSX crashes. The CTD occurs mostly with aircraft not properly installed and/or the default flight (shown in the [userinterface] Situation= line in your fsx.cfg) may be corrupted when a new default flight is set up. The solution in this case is to rename your fsx.cfg to fsx.orig, restart FSX and let the fsx.cfg rebuild. It has also been fixed by returning the default textures into the main texture folder. This can be done through a backup or conducting a FSX repair installation.
