Featured Replies

OK so I really need some help family.  Just installed FSX on my pc and I get

Unable to create default cache directory

C:\programData\Mircosoft\FSX\SceneryCache

Ive uninstalled reinstalled several times, run as admin, rebooted etc.

I dont know what else to do..........SOS HELP !!!!!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you install FSX by using the guide at the following link? http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx

Did you disable User Access Controls (UAC)? http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/turn-user-account-control-on-or-off

When you say you installed FSX, what did you install? (i.e., fsx deluxe, acceleration or FSX Gold or FSX deluxe SP1 and SP1?).

If you had UAC enabled during installation, it is most important that you installed FSX as an administrator (which you indicated you might have done). This actually is the first time I have ever seen this error by anyone in this forum but the Internet has a lot of posts throughout the Flight Simulator community about how to fix this problem. Unfortunately, many do not post their solutions when someone gives them a suggestion. I suspect they got the problem fixed but who knows if the suggestion really worked? Only the OP.

Thank you sir for your advice,  I installed fsx deluxe along with the acceleration pack.both seemed to have installed correctly, but I still get the for mentioned message.   I've gone into UAC disabled that, but still nothing...... I've even tried another copy of the two programs and get the same results........nothing. you have any other ideas that might resolve this major issue. So for right now Ive got a brand new computer  with nothing to do..........

So that indicates there is stuff in your system registry that is preventing the installation. If you had SP2 installed at one time, maybe the registry is showing it still installed. SP2 and Acceleration are not compatible. If you uninstall, a good registry cleaner should work.
