October 5, 201411 yr EDIT Never mind! I think I fugured this out already... The N stands for knots and so the number is the speed. N0362F190 at the start means I have to go to F190 right away, NIK/N0447F390 means I have to climb to F390 right away after NIK and KETEX/N0443F370 means I have to descend to F370 right away after KETEX. I don't have to stay at that altitude for a specific time, I may descend when needed to conform to the next constraints which aren't on the OFP but which can be seen on the MCDU... Can anyone explain to me how I should 'read' the bold parts of the following plan? N0362F190 LEKO1F LEKKO N872 NIK/N0447F390 UY131 BARTU UZ709 CIV UN872LESDO UM728 KETEX/N0443F370 UM728 OBEPA UM133 LERGA LERG8B I know it means the cruise (?) level is 190, 390 and 370 at or near the waypoints before or after them but what exactly does NO362, NO447 and NO443 stand for? Is that the exact position (langitudes or whatever)? I also wonder if these are constraints? Should I be at them or below them or above them? And for how long after for instance KETEX should I be/stay at 370? This is the OFP that belongs to it (PFPX) and it seems to me I have to stay at 370 way too long (hardly no time to get down to approch altitudes). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AWY WAYPOINT MT ALT WND/VEL TAS DIST FUEL REM / USED LEG ACC NAME TMP FREQ GS REM POSITION ETO / ATO -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EHAM/04 -11 5.4 / 0.1 00:00 AMSTERDAM/SCHIPH 592 N5218.0 E00447.0 ...../..... BTW I am flying the Aerosoft Airbus 318 and don't really know how to get the MCDU F-PLAN page to look like the OFP when it comes to altitudes. I entered the altitudes behind the waypoints close to them but I have no clue if I should only enter a number or also + or -... I also wonder why constraints I see in the MCDU aren't on the OFP? All in all I notice I don't know much about how to deal with altitudes and flight planning...
October 7, 201411 yr Thanks Jeroen. Those were parts I looked at and didn't really understand so found another flight plan to use... Cheers Mike Mike Dryden
October 10, 201411 yr Usually you should be level at the planned level before the waypoint, not after, I'm not mistaken. Here's some info about the speed (N) you were wondering about by the way if you ever see another letter and wonder what it means Insert cruising speed in TAS in terms of Kilometres per hour -K followed by4-figures, (e.g. K0830) or, Knots - N followed by 4-figures, (e.g. N0485) or TrueMach Number when so prescribed by appropriate ATS, to the nearest hundreds (e.g.M082) Anders Regards, Anders Moen
November 27, 201411 yr You could have chosen the UN872 instead of N872. The UN872 has no altitude restraints and also goes to the NIK-fix... This route uses 100kg less fuel... The descent towards FL370 is not necessary (not for PMDG737NGX...)
