  1. Mostly of the armchair variety...
  2. Are you in a big enough parking spot for your plane?
  3. I had the fortune to see one at YSSY, but the crappy cellphone photo through the terminal glass as it went up thru 1,500' isn't quite as good as yours! That last one is great. Been flying the virtual one all weekend thus far, taking the opportunity to do some long haul with the wife & child away. Mike
  4. No point making them if no one is going to buy them. ETOPS has largely seen to that. Passengers hating legacy hubs doesn't help. Who'd go to LAX or Heathrow (or Sydney) if they could avoid it?
  5. I realised what I did... I ran the FSX and Acceleration repairs. So I suspect that's overwritten something. It's messed up my FT Dubai. Runways are all as per the FT scenery, but there are no buildings. No doubt there are others with problems. Re-running the installers hasn't help. Might have to uninstall the airports and re-install. Need to fix up the AI traffic as well. I've now got a lot of default AI back. It's probably something I shouldn't have done. I had done in the past, but that was before lots of add ons to screw up. Hopefully I won't have to do a full reinstall. Shouldn't think so, but we shall see... Mike
  6. Sounds like an out of memory error. You run out of virtual addressable space (or something like that). Search OOMs here and you'll find plenty of people have the same problem. Only way around it is to turn down the settings.
  7. While I haven't bothered setting it up to start in anything other than an engines running state (other than maybe once early on), I don't find the yoke position that bad. Not fantastic, but not unflyably bad. Is it just for start up where it's a pain, or everything? If I haven't flown it for a while I use the 2D overhead to remind myself where the switches are, but it soon sinks back in so that it can be done from the VC with the hat for view. Mike
  8. DC-6 or QW 737 Razbam Saab 340 maybe Mythical F-27. (I know JF are doing one, and I want it to be good, just like I wanted a bunch of other planes to be better than they are...) In that order I think... Mike
  9. I'm going to call it my favourites, not 'the best' because it's so subjective: Finalists: Milviz Baron Qualitywings BAe 146/RJ Coolsky DC9 PMDG NGX A2A Cub (which I think just squeezes in the last five years) And the winner is: Coolsky's DC9. It got off to a rocky start, hasn't had anywhere near the number of liveries it should have, but what a plane... There are another five that could easily have been short listed. Mike
  10. Yup, what Craig said.
  11. Folks Pacific Islands Simulation are having a sale until the 31st of Dec. This is direct from PacSim, not the recent JF one. Some great airports here. PNG is highly recommended for bush types. Mike
  12. If you can only have one, the Cherokee. But both have their place. I prefer the character of the Cherokee. Mike
  13. What Bert said, plus ASN if you can make it fit. Mike
  14. You mean Orbx kmz files? Kind souls have already made them for most (all?) regions. Just google Orbx and kmz. They should pop out. Mike
  15. It should still be on c:... where it was. My FSX install is on an E drive with the cfg on C. Mike
  16. If Wiki is anything to go by, an ERJ is a stretched and re-engined EMB-120 Brasilia. I'm pretty sure a Brasilia isn't a biz jet. Embraer's biz jets are off shoots of their RJ lines. On the other hand, a CRJ is an evolved Challenger design. That said, since semantics seem to be the order of the day, the reductio ad absurdum reductum argument would be that we should be calling an EC-135 an airliner because it's only a modified 707...
  17. Not if noise abatement or a host of other reasons say otherwise.
  18. Welcome back. I'm going to presume that P3D doesn't have the lessons. There is no harm in using the FSX lessons, sinsce you don't have to go out and buy FSX to get them. It's not like the knowledge gained isn't transferable. They're more than you'd get out of a book. YouTube vids are hit and miss as training guides. Many are well intentioned but flawed. And neither give you any of the feedback that the FSX lessons give you. There are also commercial training products for sims. However they tend to be aeroplane specific and those aeroplanes tend to be of the more complex variety. Let's just say I wouldn't jump straight into the Majestic Dash-8 or PMDG NGX unless you're already pretty comfortable with the basics. (not even sure if the Dash is licenced for P3D. NGX isn't yet) Good luck. There are no dumb questions, if you need to ask. Mike
  19. Thanks. I've cycled the regions, with no joy. I'll try the roof fix. But with entire buildings AWOL I'm not so sure... Cheers Mike
  20. Folks I think this is the least worst place to ask... I'm pondering a couple of JustPlanes BluRays, however... Rumour has it that NTSC/PAL is not the bogey issue it used to be. But my Samsung BD-H6500 manual is pretty adamant that it's PAL only. The JustPlanes stuff is NTSC. Does anyone in PALland have any experience with this? I guess buy the download and cut to disc is an option, but... I'm a hoarder, and a random blank CD case doesn't really cut it if there is a prettier alternative. Cheers Mike
  21. Very true. I look forward to more pics. I never got around to this, being so far from my understanding of where the Pacific Islands are! Maybe this will change my mind. Mike
  22. That circuit breaker caught me out too... Not that I'm going to admit that though. Still can't get the 182 to start. Either not enough priming or too much. How did you get into the front seat of the Cub? I've always been looking over Heidi's shoulder. Her whining finally made me decide to get half reasonable at landing the thing. Mike
  23. AFAIK, there is only one: FTX Global. The rest (again, AFAIK) are regional, even if they do cover most of the planet if you get them all. I don't recall GEX covering everything, although it covers a lot. FScene might, but that seems to be so far behind the other two as to not be worth considering seriously (not that I've ever had it).
