October 9, 201411 yr Hi I have just started to get some graphics problems with my fsx its not CTD but it might as well be. I have been running fsx on this machine for over a year with a ton of add-ons with no problems. last weekend I set off on a flight and as usual I am going in and out of full screen to see if I need to speak to ATC etc. & bang !!. black sky with smuged grownd textures but nothing els no plane no buildings just nothing, this is new I thought & since then its going down hill so I could really do with some help. The symptoms start if I do anything to temporarily get a black screen like setting crash detection on in realism& clicking OK, while i am doing all that the fsx window is blacked out ( normal ) but after OK is clicked to get back into the sim with the new setting all the graphics are messed up please see photos./I have tried installing the drivers that came this the graphics card I have also swiped the OS with a anti virus ( & did find some nasty s I caught recently but now I am clean ). tonight I thought I had it sorted but I went to windowed mode to start active sky next as I forgot Again & when I went back to full screen it blows up again, I am pulling all the OS updates out from the last month to see if that helps if not I will be forced into a full OS reinstall. Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Tim specs OS windows 7 64 bit MOBO asus sabertooth x79 walter cooled CPU intel i7 3820 HD segate 1tb win os disk HD samsung ssd 840 evo 120gb for xplane HD samsung ssd 60 gb for fsx memory 16gb quad G skill f3 14900cl9 asus geforce gtx 680 2gb i cant show a screen shot the forum wont let me ? October 9, 201411 yr Your video card driver üpdate ? , CPU cooling problem ? , memory leak ? , HD Raid configuration ? ,review these aspects please and report back .. ALPER S.
October 9, 201411 yr Hi Tim, I would think there is some kind of memory issue at play. As you load other applications into RAM and take up what little is available for FSX, it falls over. This is what I would do, should I be experiencing this issue: Before doing a reinstall, do as Saim suggests and first, update the video driver to the latest version, second delete the shader cache, and it won't do any harm to delete the cfg and let that rebuild also. Check the GPU and internals for dust build up to make sure the GPU is not overheating. Then I would also suggest you try unticking all the scenery you don't need in the FSX scenery library and just tick the scenery and airports you are using. Lastly, ensure you have the UIAutomationCore.dll (a search on Google or Avsim will return a result) download and place in the FSX main directory. This is an essential addition to Win7 and prevents issues with accessing menus in FSX. It's an outside chance but it may have some bearing on your issue if you don't have it installed. These are all simple and easy procedures and cannot do any harm other than aid the running of FSX. However, before making any changes, please ensure you make a copy/backup of anything you delete. October 10, 201411 yr Ok thanks i will have a look at all those sugestions and get back to you thanks again Tim
October 10, 201411 yr Tim, also, I forgot to add, but I suspect you may already have this in your cfg.. the HIGHMEMFIX? It is a fix that helps with memory/graphics issues and should be present in anyone's FSX cfg [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 If it's not there, add it, if it is and you know about it then forgive me for stating the obvious  HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
October 19, 201411 yr Hello againwell i have had a look for a memory leak but couldn't find anything pulling down the memory all that muchcpu runs no hotter than 44 & the gtx 680 runs at about 32, I dont have a raid configuration.I did a search fo all files & folders that had anything to do with fsx & removed them, then installed fsx again which seemd to do the trick. however after some digging i did find something like 70 + registry & progame files broken or damaged, so I have taken the plunge & got a new HD & installed win7 64 as fresh, i have almost got all the fsx addons installed & all is well in the world, in fact i get better fps now than i ever did before.i think this problem is solved :Big Grin:thank you all very much for your helpTim
