November 9, 201411 yr Hrmm, I'm looking for the FS9.1 gui settings. Can't find the location. Start the flight simulator, once loaded after the splash screen you should get the GUI - Graphic User Interface - where you choose your aircraft, airport and weather plus other settings. Click on SETTINGS (lower left of interface). In the Settings category click on 'Display' then the 'Hardware' tab. The render to texture setting is at the top of the 'Hardware rendering options' section. AI traffic at zero in the past has worked. I do recall a large than usual amount of aircraft leaving the airport as I was simming today (KAUS). Well that is a clear indication that this is likely AI related. The high number of AI wouldn't cause the problem, just a frame rate hit. At this point I would expect a bad texture in one or more of your AI aircraft. Please take another look at my post #11. What your are describing sounds exactly like what I found. Reminder; every time I taxied at KDEN I got the same crash - it turned out to be bad AI textures and every time I got a 'visual' of one FS9 would shut down. I should also mention that doesn't mean I actually ever got to see the offending aircraft(s). Regards,

I was about to start FS9 so that I can do what you instructed, but prior to running, it prompted me that it needed some sort of "windows media update" (media player?), and so I let it install the updates, then it restarted. I proceed to click on FS9, and when it finishes loading, the screen flashes between the desktop screen and the actual simulator. I'm going to do a system restore first.

I unchecked it, and I no longer crash at airports (although I did crash one time shortly after quitting the flight (which happens every now and then)). Every time I start the simulator, I am prompted that I may want to update DirectPlay or the flightsim apps. It looks like this. If I do update it, last time I tried updating it, the computer kept flashing on and off between the sim screen and the desktop, and I have to log off by ctrl-alt-delete (and I would need to restore my computer).
December 5, 201411 yr Author Pardon me, but reinstalling the aircraft/scenery folders fixed the below problem: Welp, after a series of uninstalling and reinstalling (my computer uninstalled a lot of stuff), the simulator works. It worked for a while perfect with AI traffic, but today I flipped on FS9 and DFW was deserted. I uninstalled and reinstalled the WOAI installer since it was giving me error messages ("aircraft name" not found!). I proceeded to use it, but unfortunately, the dam thing wouldn't work (no aircraft). I attempted a manual install, transferred the aircraft and flight folders that belonged to an airline into the FS2004 directory, and it worked for a bit (the files were in their respective places). They're gone now for some reason (in the sim). The files are still located in their location, but there are no aircraft present anywhere (I have another DFW scenery installed).
