  1. Hmm. I could try that. I've edited aircraft and AI textures before with paint.net without trouble. And with trouble, though there was some sort of workaround I had to do to get it to work. I forget what it was exactly. The past few times those possible solutions didn't make a difference. One of them caused the aircraft to load with this really weird looking motherboard-looking texture!! Windows paint isn't Microsoft paint is it?? I can't edit with that very well at all.
  2. Trying to repaint an aircraft texture. Using DXTBMP to load the file, then sending it to paint.net. I think the problem is in paint.net... I make my changes on paint.net, I make sure any layers are merged into one before I save. Once I'm finished with paint.net, I'll select "reload after edit" on dxtbmp, which will show the edited texture. Then... I either "save as extended bitmap-888", or "DXT 1" (or 3). Then I'll drop the edited texture into my aircraft folder, only to see that no changes have been made to the original texture when I run the sim. Not sure where the problem exists... thoughts?
  3. This is something I keep seeing at Chinese airports. A while back after the installation of two sceneries, JetwaysAndTerminals ZSPD (Shanghai Pudong) and FRF's Beijing, after spending a decent amount of time there, texture of other aircraft begin to disappear. At first I thought I must've done something wrong with the newly-installed AI aircraft, but soon enough, all aircraft, and finally mine would become "ghosts" (and the scenery as well I think (not fully confirmed)). Not only that, but I believe this may have contributed to many of my addons losing several of their structures (i.e., cfg's, texture folders, other folders, etc.), so I'm always too afraid of being at an airport with these effects for too long. Actually, the loss of these files may have been due to another problem which, may have been separate from this one (out of memory error I believe). The last time I observed this error was at Chengdu's airport. I landed and all AI was gray. My aircraft also went gray shortly after. One other note; when I installed the ZSPD scenery from JaT, I had to add a landclass for ZSPD, as well as an AP###### file (I actually went back to the original one since I feared this file would've tampered with other Chinese addon sceneries).
  4. I can't edit the post for some reason. I do confirm I cannot use the similator again if I exit; I have to restore again to be able to use the sim.
  5. How did you notice your sim was losing things? I restored to before the update happened. The sim starts slowly. If I exit the sim and try to go back in, I get the same error message. I restored again (somehow to the same point), and it did the same thing (started slowly). (I haven't exited yet, but I suspect I'll just get the same results). I'll update once I'm done simming.
  6. Hi there, I've had these textures missing from the 9Dragons Kai Tak scenery. Generally what people have said to do is "follow the instructions 100% down and you shouldn't have problems", but that hasn't been any use for me; that's just telling me to "do everything right", but what am I not getting right? I followed the instructions 100% down, but I still get this problem. I did have VHHH inactive and uninstalled, as well as the Hong Kong photoscenery unchecked in the scenery library, and have the 3 folders in that library in the correct priority order. If I had to guess what the source of this problem was, it would be that the textures may be there where they need to be, but they are not being called out by some file (perhaps a cfg file, although I doubt there's such a file that has all the textures called). Thanks!
  7. Necro-posted! 7 years later. Unfortunately I used the one-in-all installer to install the scenery :l . I re-installed the same way, but perhaps I should try downloading those 5 zip folders and install that way?
  8. Hello again! After several attempts of installing AI traffic automatically with the WOAI installed, I resorted to manual installs. Automatic installs didn't work out since the flight and aircraft files never appeared in the respective FS9 folders, even after selecting the right path (below the "FS2004" target). For some reason, aircraft don't always appear at the gates (no AA traffic at DFW (addon terminal)) until I reinstall. It came to my attention that evey time I dragged the aircraft and flight files into FS9, it tells me that some files of the same name already exist (I always overwrite). Perhaps after I manually install each airline, something goes wrong? The airline information under the aircraft.cfg (I.e., "WOAI_B757_2RR") I believe is to blame, somehow. I've checked for each airline downloaded under the aircraft.cfg file, and usually found each airline name in the cfg (I'll have to confirm when I get back home in several days, though). Is my method for installing AI traffic ok? Or should I never overwrite, and instead just allow new files with a (1) suffix to be created when prompted to do so?
  9. Pardon me, but reinstalling the aircraft/scenery folders fixed the below problem:
  10. I unchecked it, and I no longer crash at airports (although I did crash one time shortly after quitting the flight (which happens every now and then)). Every time I start the simulator, I am prompted that I may want to update DirectPlay or the flightsim apps. It looks like this. If I do update it, last time I tried updating it, the computer kept flashing on and off between the sim screen and the desktop, and I have to log off by ctrl-alt-delete (and I would need to restore my computer).
  11. Well, now there's a bigger problem, unfortunately. I was about to start FS9 so that I can do what you instructed, but prior to running, it prompted me that it needed some sort of "windows media update" (media player?), and so I let it install the updates, then it restarted. I proceed to click on FS9, and when it finishes loading, the screen flashes between the desktop screen and the actual simulator. I'm going to do a system restore first.
  12. Sorry, it's been a while! It recently crashed on taxi, and looking at the event viewer, there were about 10 errors happening during the last minute that the sim was working. Here's the event details: System - Provider [ Name] ATIeRecord - EventID 16388 [ Qualifiers] 49152 Level 2 Task 16 Keywords 0x80000000000000 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2014-11-08T18:20:35.000000000Z EventRecordID 2125323 Channel Application Computer WINDOWS-V9J53VF Security EventData I'm playing around with the event viewer, but I can't seem to find any modules to blame for. And actually, this event/error is happening as we speak continuously, so I don't think that's to blame. I'm looking at the Windows Log Application Tab. It says it stops working, then it just exits out and I can see my desktop. AI traffic at zero in the past has worked. I do recall a large than usual amount of aircraft leaving the airport as I was simming today (KAUS). Hrmm, I'm looking for the FS9.1 gui settings. Can't find the location.
  13. Alright, I updated it to 9.1. I did the 4GB patch, so I've stopped crashing less. However, it seems that now the only time the simulator crashes is when I'm at an airport (after taxiing for a bit). I read through the 9.1 document it opened up, and I would have thought the seasons changing may have been a reason for the simulator to crash, but I'm not so sure now.
  14. Why hello again! Late response since I haven't had the chance to flight sim, let alone post about it here. I'm not on my computer at the moment, but I'll tell you what I can. FS9 basically freezes and says "Microsoft flight simulator 9.0 has stopped working", then it just exits out. I'll check out to see if it has something to do with AI traffic. I will let you know that all traffic is WOAI and all have been installed around last August (there shouldn't be anything old there). I have the 64bit version.
  15. I did that, and it said it worked (it showed me that picture in the link you sent me), but I clicked something too fast (I don't even know what it was anymore) and it immediately said the app stopped working..should I patch again?
  16. The problem has returned again...even with quality settings on default, it crashed today as I was taxiing to the runway...I've been looking forward for some flight simming this week, and this is a great welcome to it... I suppose I can provide the necessary stats. Ahh, well ok then . I actually haven't had AI traffic installed for that long, meaning I probably have the newest version. I suspect it's /possibly/ a panel I've been using? Unfortunately, it seems that everytime I think I've isolated the problem, something else appears to be causing the sim to crash when the other factor isn't in play :1. Hrmm, I'll check those programs out. All I can say is that I have hundreds of gigabytes left (about 800). Thanks for the help! It doesn't appear that duplicate airports is to blame (after running ScanAFD). Are any of those capable of identifying any issues with the flight simulator? Or is there a FlightSim Manager out there that exists to diagnose my flight simulator with a problem (that you would recommend)?
  17. Actually, I figured it out; it appears the quality of the flight simulator was too high (like for the sceneries). Thanks though! I'm getting fed up with people voting my problems 1/5 stars  . Are they seriously that bad of a question?! They aren't answerable via a FAQ, so...
  18. Hello again. I am unsure how to isolate this problem. Simply put, FS2004 has started crashing as of a month ago, and it's really annoying. Before attempting to reinstall all of FS2004, I tried to isolate the problem in these ways: -Attempted to see if the crash only occurs at certain airports. -I concluded at one point that DFW landings were a problem, but then I started crashing at other airports, or at cruise altitude, and after taking off from DFW (as opposed to just landings). -Attempted to see if the crash only occurs with certain aircraft. -I use SGA's American Super 80. I attempted to see if the problem had to do with the FSSound module (apparently this was a problem for another user at one point), but the simulator still crashed when I used the MD90. -AI traffic....this is a tough one to test. I'm using WOAI traffic. I flew with over 50 virtual airlines installed for 2 months without a problem. -Potential problem (untested): Using medium-high-ultra high quality for most features (I can specify if you would like). I am using a FS2004 disk that I bought in April 2014 (used) which worked in perfect condition until a month ago. I have a Windows 8 computer. Any other tips that could help me isolate what's causing the simulator to crash?
  19. I got it all figured out. I just needed to select a directory.... Thanks!
  20. I finally got it to work. Apparently, after clicking on "ok" on the dialogue, I was supposed to click on the white space in the box so that it can close....how was I supposed to know that  ?!!? But thanks! It works! BUT, even after running the WOAI traffic installer and successfully installing the AI traffic I wanted (AA, A-Eagle, Southwest, Lufthansa), it seems the aircraft are all missing. For some reason, I still hear Lufthansa callsigns getting called out when I'm flying (even though I'm not sure where it's coming from). I did install the DFW airport into FS9 (with the proper procedure of course). Here's the install link: http://library.avsim.net/download.php?DLID=148948 I'm going to assume I need the MRAI to install flight plans, am I right? You would think the AI traffic would already have somewhere to go once installed.
  21. Hmm. I tried what you said, but then X happened: Hrmm, I guess I'll be searching for WOAI traffic!
  22. The scenery and textures are in fs9, so that's not a problem. I recently installed some Lufthansa traffic into FS9. However, I am not familiar with that type of add-on and it didn't not install into fs9 (there was no Lufthansa traffic present). Perhaps you could give me some basic instructions on how to install it, please? Here's the one I downloaded: http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/syb2.cgi?section=scenery&file=DLH_AI_Traffic.zip
  23. When I click on the AM_EDDF folder when FS9 is loaded, it prompts me to select the "scenery" or "texture" folder in the dialog (I am able to see the contents of the EDDF folder rather than just exiting out of the dialog box). I click on either one and it just says "this folder is empty". Clicking OK anymore times just does nothing. I was able to properly install the sceneries by just taking the BGL files from both the AUS and EDDF folders into their respective folders, and it worked. Unless this method is responsible for the AI traffic, then we still aren't sure why AI traffic is almost not prominent at 100%. So if all gates have an assigned spot for certain AI aircraft, in theory I will see no AI aircraft with the default traffic installed? I'll try installing the Lufthansa AI traffic once all else is sorted out (also, for some reason the link it provides me for the installation brings me to a "page not found" page). I have Windows 8.
  24. I haven't added any traffic. I currently only have default traffic available. So basically I am going to need add-on traffic if I am to use the scenery, since the airport terminal isn't quite compatible with the default traffic. This would probably also apply with Frankfurt, whose airport is mainly occupied by Lufthansa. I tried just putting the folders in the first addon scenery folder, but that didn't work, so I took all the scenery and texture files from the EDDF and Austin folders and put them in their respective folders (inside the existing "scenery" and "textures" folders).
  25. Uninstalling the sceneries returned the AI traffic. I reinstalled them and the AI aircraft were present. However, with traffic at 100%, the most aircraft visible were 1 or 2 out in the distant sky. The airport was basically empty. I guess that's the updated problem.
