737ng speed checks

Featured Replies

Hi there. Without the aid of an FMC, which is what I am used to, can anybody tell me when to advance speed from V2 after departure. I am not sure when and by how much. I'm aware of the speed restriction of 250-below 10000.Am I right in saying that you change to Mach readings after passing FL180?And when you start the descent do you stay at the cruising speed, or reduce immediately. And also, could you give me the correct approach speeds and subsequent flap settings for an average loaded flight. Many thanks to any help.

Keith Sandford.

can anybody tell me when to advance speed from V2 after>departure. normally you will follow V2+20 to 1,500 AFE. However, there are noise abatement profiles at most airports which may require different configurations.I am not sure when and by how much. I'm aware of>the speed restriction of 250-below 10000.After 1,500 AFE, you will normally accelerate to 250 (below 10K) and clean up on the flap retraction schedule. Be aware that the 250/10K can be modifed by the ATC or specific arrivals. Some airports require 250/12K while others have 270/8K, and again, ATC can flex these speeds/alts.>>Am I right in saying that you change to Mach readings after>passing FL180?No, this is not correct. You will be climbing on a speed schedule (i.e. .72/310), this requires you to monitor the speed for the correct change over. In this example, you climb at 310k until your you hit .72m, then change over. This may happen at 22,312 feet.>>And when you start the descent do you stay at the cruising>speed, or reduce immediately.Assuming a cruise descent (your first descent), and assuming you are following an ECON mode profile, you will most likely descend at cruise speed (+/- 30k or so) >>And also, could you give me the correct approach speeds and>subsequent flap settings for an average loaded flight. What type and model of aircraft exactly?>>Many thanks to any help.>no problem

Thanks for that valuable info Mike. Actually I change between the PMDG 600/700 and the default 737. Are there big differences? Thanks.

Hi Mike, if possible could you give me the approach speeds for the A/C listed above. Many thanks.
