Quick question...is it possible to map a joystick button to one on the 'A' cycle cockpit VC views? Specifically, I'd like to assign this view after I've zoomed in.

Yes you can assign the "A" key to a button. It should keep your zoomlevel as you switch. I have it assigned through FSUIPC but it can easily be done in the P3D control assignments menu.
