April 30, 200521 yr How's your load time?I recently did a complete reinstall of FS, and added a few planes, American Data Roads, Bridges, and Streams, and terrain mesh for the US. It takes FS FOREVER to load...seriously, maybe 4-5 minutes. Any ideas on how to remedy this?I've got 1.5 gigs of memory and an Athlon 3200 w/ serial ATA drives. I don't see this as a hardware issue......
April 30, 200521 yr WOW!I`ve got tons of scenery addons etc.. even if i load the heaviest scenery with the most advanced aircraft (i.e. the PMDG737) andActive Sky running in the background and about 70% AI traffic(Ultimate Traffic) it takes me about 20-30 seconds MAX.i have 1 gig RAM AMD Athlon 3000 serial ATA andATI PCR 9550 256MB graphics cardHow`s your settings in FS(Graphics)do you have full scenery complexity settings?do you use ground scenery shadows?and does the load time vary from which aircraft and/or airport you start at?Yngve Yngve GiljebrekkeENZV NSB
April 30, 200521 yr Only thing that takes really long to load for me is Megascenery but even with that, I managed to reduce the total loading time to just over 1 minute.FS tells you what it's loading...does it freeze at some particular point, like when loading terrain, AI or something? -
April 30, 200521 yr Try disabling all the add-on stuff and re-check the load time. This will determine if it is an FS problem. Secondly, be sure you haven't got some kind of AV, anti-trojan or other security program working full tilt in the background. Something is sure drawing resources.
April 30, 200521 yr That seems quite long - the only time I get it that long is loading Megascenery with extended terrain textures on. The bigger your FS Install is the longer it takes to load - esp the more aircraft you have. If you run a lot of AI it can increase your load time.
May 1, 200521 yr Author Well, I do have scenery settings including texture sizes pretty well maxed out. That may be part of it. I don't even have FS Traffic loaded yet. I've noticed an strange sound or two (Like a sound card lock up)when resetting after changing planes, weather, time, or after a crash.(Crash? Never! Well, maybe.) I'm beginning to think the old Soundblaster Live ain't what it used to be. Think it's hogging resources? Thanks for all your suggestions, guys! I'll keep plugging away and try'em all until I figure this out.
May 1, 200521 yr Hi. I have add-on freeware airplanes and one recently to which I added a panel started to take what seemed like forever to load and I had to get rid of it. Beautiful panel as well. What is it though that causes the computer to start taking so long to 'find' what it needs; I mean it doesn't have to go anywhere else to get the info, does it---it's right there in the box with the rest of the stuff.Sorry this doesn't help you but it does maybe show that just one file can throw the whole thing out of whack, for whatever reason. Andy.
