6 core CPU (12 with HT)

Recommended Posts

Anyone tried running FSX on a 6 core CPU?

Will it use all?

Like the 5930k ?

Please comment.

I've been using an i7 5820 6 core HT for several weeks with excellent results. I use AF 4084 to utilise all cores as recommended in this thread :

as I fly mainly over photoscenery areas.

I fly with scenery settings at max apart from Autogen which is one step below max.

What if HT is disabled?

Can you run higher speeds, or does it not matter.

I ask because I run with HT off on my 2600k, to reduce heat and stuttering.

I haven't tried it with HT off. It runs very well at the stock speed of 3.3Ghz though I currently have it overclocked to 3.8 but I haven't noticed a significant difference. Heat isn't a problem with the 5820. It usually runs in the mid forties (low 30s at idle) and I've never seen it go above 55C with my air cooled system.

Ok, that sounds like good temperatures.

Thanks for replying. :-)
