[24MAY16] PMDG DC-6 Cloudmaster for X-Plane Update and Release Info!
One of the more interesting features is that we implemented a "head shake" to replace the seat of the pants sensation you would get in certain instances, such as leaving your cowl flaps set too far open in high speed flight. If you do this in the real airplane, you get a very ominous, low frequency rumble and vibration through the airframe If you have a Buttkicker installed, you'll be able to feel ithe vibration as well - assuming that the low frequency rumble is replicated. A real seat of the pants sensation. http://www.thebuttkicker.com/

New monitor on horizon
MichaelTurner replied to mazelda's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI recently replaced my faulty Hazro IPS 27" monitor with a Dell S271DG G-Sync which is a very competent piece of equipment. It is a TN screen and therefore has some disadvantages compared to an IPS screen (restricted viewing angles, less rich and true colours) and some advantages (much faster response times). So its suitability depends on what you will be using it for aside from FSX. For a more comprehensive review of what is available, I would suggest visiting the following sites: https://pcmonitors.info/ http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews.htm

Help re. ES Guernsey VFR photo scenery
You might find some useful information in this thread http://www.avsim.com/topic/460430-installation-of-earth-simulations-isle-of-man-boxed-edition/ and in this guide produced by Flightstore https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/12271908/ESI%20Installer%20Help.pdf The crucial element is to disconnect from the Internet during installation I managed to reinstall all my ES scenery (some from disks, some from saved downloads) by following the guide and some trial and error. You could also try copying the disks to an HDD and running from that to solve the the problem with the disks.

What is the best program to update all drivers
MichaelTurner replied to Dan8's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcI use IObit's Driver booster 3 which works very well . I've also seen 'Driver Talent' strongly recommended. There seem to be many similar free programs but be aware that with all of them after installaion you will receive frequent popups inviting you to purchase the 'pro' version. Also be careful where you download them from and what you tick (or leave pre ticked) when installing or you might end up with a lot of bloatware/adware/malware.

possibly moving to FSX-SE, have ?'s
That shouldn't be a problem. During the first six months, DTG issued several updates to fix problems that had come to light (particularly the 'terrain.dll' crashes) but have now stated that they do not intend to issue any more updates for FSX SE and are concentrating on developing their own flight sim.

Playsim VFR Scotland Central DVD problems?
It could be due to a conflict with other scenery packages eg UTX, ORBX. Do you have any of these installed? Or it could be that the VFR scenery didn't install properly. I have experienced this with Horizon scenery when large areas of water appeared where there should have been none. The solution was simply to reinstall the scenery software

FSX file 0\FSX\FSX.EXE
And try AVAST Free instead. It performs well in comparative tests and has never caused me any problems. In fact I've never found it necessary to disable it when installing or running any programs.

Move over To FSX After 10 years on FS9 - Am I missing something ?
I've no wish to start another FSX v X Plane debate but if you are starting from scratch again I would suggest taking a serious look at X plane I'm a long time user of FS starting with FS2002 but was tempted to buy XPlane by the recent steam 50% reduction sale and am very impressed with the vanilla Xplane compared to the vanilla FSX. Add the free scenery mesh, free object libraries and free EZdok equivalent camera plugin and and it starts to look very good. Quality aircraft, airport, weather and scenery addons are still thin on the ground but starting to appear It is of course 64bit so forget about OOMs (VAS readings per ProcessExplorer have reached 13GB plus) and difficult installations. Everything drops into a simple folder structure - not into every nook and cranny in Windows FSX and the 500GBs of add ons that I have will remain my sytem of choice but I will be keeping a close eye on X Plane developments

earth simulations unable to install
The sequence for the version that I have (Vol 1-3 bundle pack 2010) is Select options; "Autogen Trees – Installed by default Hi-Res Textures – Installed by default ( uncheck this option if not required) UK2000 airport compatibility files – Not installed by default –( check this item if you own UK2000 airports only)" NB nothing about tree colour Select the installation location for Treescapes Treescapes unpacks the data and installs it to the chosen location Treescapes extracts the data to the location of the Photoscenery after showing the locations of the Photoscenery volumes and allowing these to be changed if necessary If you still have problems, a fresh installation of the Photoscenery and Treescapes might be the best option. Or you could ask Flightstore for assistance.

earth simulations unable to install
I think you have two options 1) Reinstall treescapes and at Stage 2 verify that the location that is shown for the Photoscenry is correct. If it isn't, browse to it using the box presented by the installer 2) Manually transfer the Treescape files to the current location of the Photoscenery Both these processes are described in the Manual Alternatively, you could reinstall the Photoscenery and then install Treescapes which might result in a cleaner file structure

earth simulations unable to install
The 'verify path' instruction is I presume asking you to verify the path to the Photographic scenery for the United Kingdom (Horizon Generation X or Justflight VFR Real). These volumes MUST be installed before Treescapes can be installed. Perhaps you could check that they have been properly installed by examining the Scenery library and scenery.cfg
