The only time I have been in any aircraft that has done a barrel roll was in a C182 about 30 years ago, give or take.  A friend of ours took us up in exchange for helping him prep the aircraft for a buyer.  We flew over Napa just out of KAPC when he said "Here we go" and he executed a very smooth barrel roll in the C182.  Of course he broke several rules given a C182 isn't meant for that type of manuvour, but I still found the experience breathtaking and memorable.  My other friend I found out did not take to it so well.  We had to land at an airport nearby in Sonoma where it took sometime for his face to turn from green back to something flesh colored.  I guess my being coaster buff helped but my buddy did not have that "life can turn upside down" experience.  But it was something we always talked about and it wasn't until I saw a video of the 707's demo rollover that I understood that a skilled pilot that knows his/her equipment can do some amazing demos of aviation.
