Aircraft texture load times

Featured Replies

I am looking for one thing. Faster aircraft texture loads when I switch views. This is only in aircraft with VC's. 2D panels are fine. Planes like the Citation II & X, Cessna 310, Seneca V. I always seem to have this pause with the textures re-loading & it is really starting to drive me buggy. I have a P4-3.06Ghz with 1gig of ram & a Radeon 9600 256mg video card. I am running WinXP Home SP1. This seems to be the one thing that really take sthe joy out of flying for me. Just for the heck of it, I loaded up FS2002 with some of the planes mentioned & absolutly no pauses or skips in the switching views. I am really looking for help here. Thanks.

patrick, did you tried to convert the textures of those aircrafts to DXT3-Format?If not give it a try. Use a program called DXTBMP for this job. DXT3 Textures are much smaller in size without nearly any loss of quality. Most payware aircrafts use 32bit textures. ron
