Just wondering what the advantages would be of custom XML profiles.  I would imagine that if I am flying the Majestic Q400 for example, the PMDG modules will not be started so I am trying to figure out the advantages of excluding specific XML items ?

yes indeed. You can disable ressources that are not needed for that selected profile. For example my VFR Profil does not contain PMDG stuff, because there's no need. But you should be careful disable AddOns and ensure that you know what they are doing to prevent problems with aircraft oder scenery AddOns.

OK but from a practical point of view what are you saving? I don't think those AddOns load when they are not being used so potential memory (VAS) savings would not be realized.  Maybe I am not understanding and there is a memory saving or performance improvement when these are removed.

sorry for the delay. I never did a research if deactivating DLLs oder EXEs give a performance boost. It's more or less the conclusion to deactivate programs that you don't need. ;O)
