New Canadian Sceneries Up-Coming...Ultimate Terrain Que...

Featured Replies

CanUk is about to release 3 Ontario sceneries, CYQK (Kenora), CYXZ (Wawa) and CYSP. Soon to be released are CYFC (Fredericton, NB) and CYYG (Charlottetown PEI). These sceneries were started before the release of Ultimate Terrain and are therefore not fully compatible with UT. Each scenery has its own Ground2K4 Landclass projects to correct the default Microsoft terrain including repairing/placing rivers and lakes. The sceneries are made taking into consideration Joel's Canadian Roads.CYSJ (Saint John, NB) is in in the photographing stage and could be the first project build around and fully compatible with UT.I would like to know how many people have or intend to get UT as we will then start to design our sceneries around UT.We have discussed the idea of releasing 2 versions of each airport, one compatible with UT and the other, our landclass and Canadian roads but this would result in a huge amount of extra work. Thanks,Adam

I have UT and would be very interested in some of the airports you mentioned. But I don't see CYHZ in there! Hope that's on your list of to do's.I can see that 2 versions could be a lot of work. But maybe those that have UT have more than the average propensity to buy Canadian scenery and might make a better target market. Problem is you don't know until you do it. Anyway, looking forward to it!billg

I'd be interested in any Canadian cities but only if they meshed in with Ultimate Terrain.I think Halifax should eventually be a scenery made by someone (the international airport and the actual city). I'm so tired of the generically boring and incorrect Halifax city by default . How cool would it to look down and see the two bridges properly placed and looking good as well as the star shaped hill fort of the Citadel. Canada's east coast navy (complete with visiting foreign naval vessels) and two main container port areas (not to mention Theodore Tugboat ;-) and the Bluenose II sailing) would all make this a great scenery.

I've got to say Ultimate Terrain sure improves things. As an example, Saint John, NB looks incredible from at least a fair altitudehttp://www.the-airfield.com/aaaa_misc/St_J..._comparison.gifThe accuracy to a map is quite remarkable (understanding that the FS2004 view gets stretched further from straight down by optical factors).

Im glad to see some of canada's airports finally being considered! Dont forget Moncton (my home town) and another great airport would be Calgary! Really looking forward to YFC,YSJ,and YYG though! ThanksKris

Sounds great, I love dropping by Wawa from time to time - PLEASE tell me you'll include the Goose!!! Also I use Ultimate Terrain and would probably not use these if it's not compatible, however if the ground2k coastlines are accurate then you could just remove the coastlines for UT users.

UT user here and loving it. I'd be extremely interested in any add-ons that are designed to mesh well with it (particularly in Manitoba :) )

Northern Manitoba is simply incredible with UT with all the lakes, far more realistic than the default terrain for sure.

I own UT and would be VERY interested in your scenery working with it. Robert

Thanks gents for the input. It does seem that so far, at least, most use UT. I'll consult with my scenery design partner about adapting our sceneries to work with UT - at the very least, upcoming projects. I myself just acquired UT and like it very much, but find that there are areas that lack appropriate textures such as smaller subdivisions or settlements. I have however not looked very deeply into the option settings yet in the program. Maybe a combination of UT and landclass projects would work together nicely.BTW, CYHZ and CYQM, as well as CYYT, have been done for FS2002 by the Mosher Brothers, all are excellent and work fine in FS9.A few for David...Sorry about the pic quality. It's very poor, the .jpg compression makes the taxi sign look very bad. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116158.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116159.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/116160.jpg

The goose! Looks pretty good so far.

looks great man i love ut and hope they all work just fine.as for cyhz i have been playing a bit with it and moncton and st johns converting the textures to dxt so the frame rates go up adding the rotating beacans and redid the air nova building to jazz at cyhz as it is if i get enough people wanting it and premission from the mosher brothers to upload i will but i havent seen them around in over a year.shane

Grubby mentioned Calgary - We have made several offers to do YYC if someone would go there and take pics but have had no takers yet. Unfortunately, I can't afford to fly out there to take pics myself. In fact we offered to do any Canadian airport, had quite a few responses from people who were going to get pics...# of pics received to date: 0! It's a real shame in a way. I can go to airports in my general area, pretty much anywhere in the Maritimes at a reasonable cost, but anything that involves a flight is pretty much out of the question at this point.Shane, I'd be interested in acopy of your mods to the 3 Maritime airports. I haven't heard from Craig in what seems like ages either.P.S. Check out our Manitoba sceneries here in the AVSIM file library. Do a search for CanUk Sceneries.

Yep, I think I have all your Manitoba stuff (although perhaps I should d/l them again as I think you might have sent me some pre-release versions). Great stuff. Ftmp, they seem to work ok with UT as is...
