December 24, 201411 yr Hi, It seems a lot of other users have not encountered this, so there might be something I'm doing wrong. Background: Linda 2.5.5 Prepar3d v2.4 Module does not matter, intended to be used with Q400 Module 1.2 Mostly Saitek Pro Flight stuff, CH rudder pedals, W7 x64 Stuff tried: 1. Reinstalling FSUIPC 2. Restarting computer 3. Tried "standalone" 2.5.5 installation, not overwriting 2.5, the previous version. Problem: I get a dialog box that says "Range check error". Everything actually works but trying to click any device in the joystick tab makes the mentioned error reappear. Also, when I press a joystick button the button number to the left does not highlight (making assigning specific commands to buttons guesswork). I noticed "SliderFillPanel" text at the bottom of the LiNDA window, covering some of my device selection buttons in the joystick tab. Everything worked when I was using 2.5. However, I'm very eager to use this because I get to use new features such as multiple shifts for my saitek yoke and fixed shift unsetting. Thanks! Frank
December 24, 201411 yr Hi Frank Sorry to hear that 2.5.5 is causing you problems. The bottom panel you mention is the one with the icons of the joystick, etc. Is that correct? How many devices would you expect to see here in 2.5? Is it more than 4 or 5? I have only 2 so the panel does not scroll left or right me. Is the "SliderFillPanel" the only text you see? What happens with you click no the righthand panel scroll arrow? You say that 2.5.5 is working otherwise for you? The Range Check Error is generate automatically by the buily-in error checkin It may be Friday before I can start investigating this. December 25, 201411 yr Author Hi Scot, It's okay, Scot. I appreciate the effort of all of you guys! Yes. I have 6 devices connected. It stays when I click the scroll arrow. It actually "scrolls" with the joysticks down there. Yes it does work. But assigning buttons is a pain because I do not get the usual highlighting of the button number when I press a button. It does go to the appropriate joystick page though.
December 25, 201411 yr Hi Frank Thank you for the extra information. I have started looking into the problem. A couple of questions: With your 6 devices connected do the HID and right-scroll buttons highlight when you move the mouse of them? Can you try unplugging your devices and try 4 and 5 devices? Do you get the same problem? Merry Christmas. December 25, 201411 yr Hi Frank Before going off to my Christmas Dinner, I have checked my development system and added 6 devices without the problem you reported. What is different from my set up to the screen shot you posted (at #3 above) is that my 6 devices appear as just 6 buttons (2 rows of 3). I do not see the blank buttons to the left and right of the 6 devices or the right scroll arrow icon. This indicates that you have more than 6 devices connected and probably more than 10. Can you list all your connected devices for me and, using this information, the PID & VIDs of each? December 25, 201411 yr Author Merry Christmas, Scot! Yes, it does report 10 devices, all are virtual devices, two are virtual joystick and mouse of my logitech G13, 2 are virtual joysticks made by FacetrackNOIR. I will try to remove them and report back. Meanwhile, I tried 1.13 again and "SliderFillPanel" was still there, so it's not 2.5.5 related. I would however, want to get rid of the range check error and the button highlights. Will post again. Hi Scot, It actually worked! 1. Uninstalled Virtual Joystick (did not need it anyway) 2. Disconnected Logitech G13 (but for some reason HID device was still in device manager if it works with it on, better!) 3. Fresh install of 2.5.5 Thank you!
December 25, 201411 yr Hi Frank Great news. It looks like you are having a similar problem to other users with non standard (new technology) devices. To help me with my on-going research can you send me by PM the PID/VIDs of your virtual joystick and Logitech G13? The Windows Device Manager remembers all devices ever connected to your PC. You have to select Show Hidden Devices and manually delete unwanted devices but care is needed when doing this. December 28, 201411 yr With Frank's help offline, the problem was identified as being caused by a virtual joystick (vJoy) that uses a non-standard USB implementation. A fix has been included in the LINDA 2.5.6 update which should fix other devices which were causing issues. June 4, 201510 yr Hi Scot, just to let you know. The range check error is back. I've 3 Devices. The Saitek Multi Panal, CH Yoke and the vJoy Virtual Joystick . Linda 2.6.3 throws that message from time to time. 1234BEAD0 ● vJoy - Virtual Joystick → Axes: 0 Buttons: 32 Hats: 0 ($5CEB160) 068E00FF0 ● CH FLIGHT SIM YOKE USB → Axes: 6 Buttons: 12 Hats: 1 ($5CEC8A0) 06A30D060 ● Pro Flight Multi Panel → Axes: 0 Buttons: 20 Hats: 0 ($5CECA20) Cheers Stephan
June 7, 201510 yr Hi Stephan I am aware that there are reports of Range Check Errors when using LINDA 2.6.3. I have yet to see a pattern in these reports and, at present, I do not have the time to investigate further until autumn/fall. If you can note what you were doing when they occur it will help pin them down.
