December 26, 201411 yr Some days ago, I used the AP for hight only. I thought this would enable me to fly the headings and turns by hand but that proved to be impossible. The plane wanted to go straight ahaid and not much else. So my question: is this normal or not? Thanks for answering.
December 26, 201411 yr I haven't had a problem. You did press the HDG button and turned the heading bug to the desired heading, right? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090

No Gregg, he's saying that he wanted to engage 'altitude only' on the AP, and steer the aircraft heading 'by hand'. @georg3141 - I'm afraid you cannot do that on this particular type of autopilot George (in fact most modern APs do not allow independent use of only one of the axis; roll or pitch - they're usually engaged together.
December 26, 201411 yr No Gregg, he's saying that he wanted to engage 'altitude only' on the AP, and steer the aircraft heading 'by hand'. Oh, I see. Could he cheat and put it in Nav mode without a valid nav source selected? Seems like it would put the AP in roll mode? Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. December 26, 201411 yr Author Thank you guys. So I know this is not a bug in my Carenado Pilatus PC-12. I'll try the Nav thing, maybe.
