December 26, 201411 yr Hi Folks, during my T7F world tour I yesterday landed at CYUL, Montreal/Canada (tour leg: CYYC-CYUL). I must say that it was (by chance) one of the "most surprising" approaches/landings I have ever experienced in my FS livetime:  CYUL, ILS24L, 2014-12-25, 20:15Z (16:15 LT) overhead SLOKA @ 3000ft (using ASN historical weather) I just recapitulated this scenario twice from scratch with a left hand traffic pattern 24L/24L via CYHU in order to make sure that these conditions are reproducible. AND: they are! B) Forget A/T and AUTOLAND. They both "might fail", so you "perhaps" have to make it all manual... I can highly recommend this scenario for training bumpy approaches. Although during daylight and good visibility, it is really demanding down to the flare and ATIS does not give you a real clue of what to expect. Tighten seat belts and have fun. "Sim-in-sim-mode" recommended at or below 2200ft MSL! BTW: I only tried it with the T7F (GW approx. 210t). The NGX will be even harder work because of its lighter weight. I hope you enjoy it like I did! Claus KUEPPER
December 26, 201411 yr Author What is "sim in sim mode" ? It is a "term invented by myself" to describe the situation when we FS folks are flying simulator lessons inside our simulators in order to learn new stuff containing the risk of total failure (e.g. crashing). :( So to us "sim-mode" is like real world operations and "sim-in-sim-mode" is the equivalent of simulator training in the real world.
