Stutter when turning with dyn head movement enabled

Featured Replies

Hello,

Whenever I am using FSX Opus (3.51.1) and have DHM enabled, I get extreme stuttering whenever I turn the aircraft or change altitudes.  All goes back to smooth when I disabled the DHM.  Is there something that I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Sounds like you either have,

1. Another conflicting head movement Addon active, TrackIR, EZCA, or AccuFeel etc..

You cannot have more than one program controlling the single eye point in the sim, if you do the display will jump all over the place as there is conflict betwen the devices. If you have TrackIR then you must configure it and Opus to coordinate their actions, see the Getting Started Guide.

2. Your aircraft sim cannot cope with the DHM Bump Aircraft feature. If so then either disable it or reduce its DOF setting and increase its delay in the DHM dialog. Do this for all camera views for that aircraft.

Thanks for your help.  I dont have any other addons other than REX, and I'm using the realair lancair.  It did this with the default aircraft too, i'll double check setting as mentioned

I use the Realair Lancair also with no problems. Just try disabling the DHM Bump Aircraft option. DHM turbulence is of course quite bumpy and violent just as it is in the real world, no wobbly or rocking motions. You can also adjust the general delay factor for DHM.

One thing you should do is open the Spy window and check for any DOF errors (you will need the latest release version for this, not the latest betas where the DOF exceptions have been suppressed). As in ...

Prepar3D 6DOF SimConnect Exceptions are no longer reported in the Spy window. These exceptions can occur with the latest P3D v2.4 software, they are not fatal and will be avoided completely once we complete the new OpusPDK library. This library will make use of the new LM Prepar3D PDK low-level interface (introduced by LM to provide a more efficient interface and get round these SimConnect handling issues).

If your jerkiness is due to the abive P3D exceptions (discarding the DHM 6DOF requests) then you will have to wait for the OpusPDK. LM have only recently introduced this to support things like the Oculus Rift (which we will be adding support for), also it seems their SimConnect handling has become compromised. Hence many of the 6DOF requests are simply discarded by v2.4. You can restart the FSISERVER which will sometimes fix the issue for a while if not for good.

Hard to say for sure whether your jitters is just down to expectations or half the 6DOF requests being discarded. If the later you can disable DHM in your camera views and wait for the OpusPDK in the new year.
