  1. Thanks Greg, I think I'll go for the 1440p route, also for other reasons (photos/g sync for other games/etc). Which monitor did you end up going with?
  2. I've been out of P3D for a while, and am wanting to get back into it. I've always struggled with the AA/shimmering balancing act. 4x sgss performance hit etc. What I need your help with is, if I upgrade to a 1440p monitor, would I in theory need less AA to not have the shimmering issue? If so then I think I'm ready to give it another go. Currently have 1080p monitor, i5 4670k @ 4.5 ghz, gtx 1070, 16gb ram Thanks for your input!
  3. Thank you all very much. One variable I should've thrown in. What about adding add ons such as real time weather - heavy clouds etc?
  4. I currently have the i5 4670k, 16gb ram, and gtx 1070 and at 1080p resolution 144hz. I would like to switch to xplane 11. Can I expect nice smooth flying with reasonable settings? If I would like to be even more "right heavy" on the graphics settings what would I need to upgrade the most? Really appreciate the help.
  5. Hello.. i'm in desperate need of help. i love P3D however i just cant put up with the performance i'm getting, and am willing to make one more purchase to my setup if it'll help. My issue is with heavy layers of clouds, my fps drops to low teens and single digits and the choppiness is unbearable. This is happening b/c I insist on using 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling because the blurry cockpit textures are unbearable to me. My setup is i5 4670k oc to 4.5ghz, gtx 970, 16gb ram. Performance for me is absolutely perfect unless there are clouds.. if i go sli on another gtx 970 would that help cure this problem while using 4x Sparse Grid Supersampling? Your help is much appreciated.
  6. I don't know what I'm doing wrong then, b/c I basically have the same setup. I have the i5 4670K OC to 4.5ghz, Gigabyte G1 GTX 970, 16gb ram and am at 1080p. I was using REX and maybe that has something to do with the FPS crippling with the 4x SGSSAA?
  7. Not to hijack the thread, but would a dual GTX 970 be able to handle 4x SGSSAA in dense clouds? Thanks
  8. Thanks for your input. Pretty crazy that it caused a hit in the past with that beast of a card!
  9. I've seen a couple different reports regarding the need of SGSS 4x to reduce shimmering. Is this still needed in 3.2? And if so, do the FPS still come down to a crawl when heavy clouds are present? I have i5 4670k oc to 4.4ghz and gtx 970. Thanks!
  10. I'm considering taking the plunge and getting p3d v3 as well. My only concern are the reports of poor AA and shimmering, and having to offset this issue with 4x SGSSA causing a hit on fps with dense clouds. Is this still the case?
  11. I'm an Nvidia user and have read of many reports that the AA is not so good in P3D. Is this fixed in V3? It seems that SGSSAA 4x is needed to fix this issue, but kills performance when there are a lot of clouds. Is it realistic to think this will get fixed eventually?
  12. I've read some threads stating the AA with the nvidia drivers isn't so great on p3d. Is there a noticeable difference for the AMD gpu users out there? Curious if r9 290x would be worth it over the Gtx 970
  13. Thanks for your help. I dont have any other addons other than REX, and I'm using the realair lancair. It did this with the default aircraft too, i'll double check setting as mentioned
  14. Hello, Whenever I am using FSX Opus (3.51.1) and have DHM enabled, I get extreme stuttering whenever I turn the aircraft or change altitudes. All goes back to smooth when I disabled the DHM. Is there something that I am doing wrong? Thanks
  15. Just purchased the 737NGX, awesome product. Quick question though, is there a way to disable the window reflections in the VC and on the instruments for that matter? Thanks, Stephen
