Help with RAAS

Featured Replies

Hey all I'm a new guy with the 777. So far I love the aircraft, but I have one problem I can't seem to fix. Asked all my friends in the community I fly in that have the 777 and none of them have ever heard of it nor do they have a solution. I have scoured the forums but to no avail.

So when I first installed I was getting RAAS call-outs when approaching and on a runway and was pleasantly surprised. Didn't know PMDG included that feature. Then after about a flight or two it stopped and I forgot about it. Asked my friend about what it was called that did that when I remembered and learned it was RAAS. He told me to look in the Addon section of FSX while in game and see if I it was turned on. It was but the sound was all the way down. So I turned it up, did a sound test, heard it just fine and continued like everything was gravy. Everything isn't gravy. For some reason the sound will keep resetting to its lowest setting. It is turned on in the FMS, so since it was a recent install I figured I would uninstall and reinstall. That didn't fix the problem either.

Has anyone else encountered this problem before? It isn't essential for me to fly, I can read a taxyway/runway marker :P but I would like to have the WHOLE experience the 777 has to offer.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Chris

P.S. first post here so I hope my signature works

I've never had to adjust the RAAS volume from the Add On menu, just checked and it has the same value as the FSX Sounds settings so maybe a check of how you've set up sounds in FSX wouldn't hurt.  You have a PMDG master volume setting via the FMS and the FSX sound settings.  In my case, and I believe recommended by PMDG, all settings are 50%.  Also make sure that the correct sound device or speakers are selected in these locations.

Final note, not all aircraft have RAAS. It is a variable depending on livery and can be changed by you except for the default PMDG livery.

Changing the volume in my FMS fixed the problem. I had the master volume set to 7 and didn't know that setting overrode the sound setting in RAAS. Thanks so much for the help! Really really happy with this aircraft. Probably going to buy the -300 soon!
