Twin Otter training

Hi,

 

I've heard you will be creating training for the Twin Otter Extended.

 

How will you handle the navigation aspect? As the product only has the basic FSX GPS I understand, I wasn't sure of the best way to navigate IFR.

 

Or will the focus be on VFR?

Hi Dan

 

We've had a delay with this one as the guy doing the course has left Scilly Isles Skybus to join Flybe on the Q400. However, we will still base our training around the Twin Otter operation out of the Scilly Isles where I believe they fly either visually or using old school VOR/NDB navigation. As I understand it, unlike Loganair their Twin Otters don't have autopilots either.

VOR/NDB is better than GPS, and VFR too it will be interesting to see a professional approach to VFR flight planning in FSX.

 

Does the delay mean Airbus will come first?

Yes, it's looking that way Dan. We're also trying to line up our release of the First Officer training for the Q400 around the release of the Pro edition, but we're not entirely sure when that might be. I can't give firm dates for anything as it's all subject to availability of pilots, filming dates etc but this year will bring Q400 Part 2, Airbus Part 1, Twin Otter and possibly another that is under consideration. Hope that helps.
