plane running in own 4G VAS

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Newbie question.   Is there any technical limitation on running the bulk of the plane code in its own 4G VAS and use inter-process communition to interact with P3D/FSX?  If it's possible why don't more heavy VAS usage plane designer do it?

It is possible  to do that within the limitations, say, of Simconnect or even FSUIPC. They can both used out-of-process.

I think you'll find the big users of VAS are texture and bgl files.  If you're going to draw that stuff on the FS screen, then its going to end up in the FS VAS.  You can certainly do all the physics in a separate application (I think somebody did that recently with a Dash 8) but it won't save you much memory.
