Any info on EZ Scenery?

Featured Replies

Might there be any beta testers or developers of EZ Scenery out there who can tell us how the product is progressing? It looks great, if it will do what Abacus claims it will. I've been using Lago's FSE and it does a fine job, but you have to own the program in order to use the scenery. Abacus claims that scenery created with EZ Scenery can be used by anyone. That would be a significant advantage. No, I don't work for Abacus. :-wavehttp://www.abacuspub.com/catalog/s600.htmSidney Schwartz KPDX

Looks interesting although a bit misleading. It says that your friends can enjoy the scenery simply by sending them the BGL, well if you use custom objects, they will need at least the textures for those also. Another issue may be that since this uses a BGL it's not much different from FSSC or Airport for windows and will suffer from the same problems those sceneries do, unlike FSE (which I dislike) that uses Dirext X properies (why it is easier on the framerates)I wonder if it uses Scasm or XML?For true scenery design, I think Gmax and SBuilder are the way to go.Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/mcdcvabanner.jpgCalVirAir International

Hi all.It appears Abacus has decompiled all the objects of FS9 and recompiled them as a singular global library. I would assume they have taken care to include the proper texture folder to go with this. In itself, this is not difficult or unusual. What's more interesting is that Konstantin Kukushkin has made a module that allows interactive placement of the objects from within the sim itself. It appears they actually show up as you move them about. When the scene is satisfactory, the module allows compilation of the scene as a BGL. It also will allow placement of pre-fs2004 objects and even the old APIs.It makes no differerence if the resulting BGLs are fashioned by BGLComp, SCASM, BGLC, or ( more likely ) programmed from within EZ-Scenery itself. That's just a matter of 1's and 0's. You can actually make a BGL with a hex editor if you have the patience, and know the expected file structure. We had all used my macros and BGLC for LWM and VTP Bgls, until SCASM was updated for those items. Now, SBuilder uses SCASM and Ground2K4 uses BGLC... no difference in the sim.As with all object Bgls, they will require a Texture folder with the needed textures, if they are not already present in the sim, in the needed folder location.EZ-Scenery looks like an interesting way to place pre-made objects in the sim using traditional Bgls, for $29.I haven't used it, but perhaps someone will take the plunge and post their experience here.Dick
