Race to Space--nearly there...

Featured Replies

Was surprised to see no mention of this here today...http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/space/05/13/p...ship/index.htmlThis has been an extremely exciting "race to space" to watch over the past few years. I really suspect that private enterprise can and will bring us all closer to space in years to come, and it looks like Rutan and his team are among many leading the way..

Burt Rtan has built some weird aircraft over the years and I would say if anyone can do it, he canTerry

yes, if anyone can do it so can he.Sidenote: Scaled Composites is funded in large part by Paul Allen, the right hand man of Bill Gates, and therefore in very small part by our purchase of MSFS :-jumpy

I have seen a couple of reports on the race to space even on this side of the Pond, the BBC covered the story but I was disappointed. You guys in the States may not know it but the UK has a contender called StarChaser and it is built about 5 miles from where I live although I have never seen it in real life.I get the distinct impression though that Rutan has much more funding than the StarChaser team.IIRC the original StarChaser rocket was powered by a sugar based solid fuel.http://www.starchaser.co.uk/
