Wilco CRJ: Lost of COM1

Featured Replies

Hi guys,Since I've purchased this plane, I have had this problem. I use FS2004. When I start with my flight, I set all systems, when I have to ask the IFR clearence the COM radio doesn't work. I have to save, close and restart the flight. I've tried all solutions, in the Feelthere forum several users counsil to not use the radio panel and FMC radio page. But also using the FS ATC window (autotuning function) I have the same problem. I'm also thinking to have a battery problem: I'm using FSUIPC not registered and in the FS2002 version there was the "Extended battery" function to fix problems like this... Can anyone help me? Thank you very much!

Emanuele,What do you mean by "the COM radio deson't work"? Are you having problems tuning a frequency on the radio? With your APU "on" the battery won't drain, not on Wilco's CRJ. Ensure the APU is on. I'm assuming you are experiencing this problem before you start your engines, since you mentioned the problem shows up when you request clearance. Regards,Dave Vega

Hi Dave, thanks for your help. With "Com radio doesn't work" I mean that is not possible to comunicate with tower, ground, etc. Frequencies are selectable, but when I press, for example, 1 key to receive the IFR clearence, the comunication doesn't start. If I select ATIS freq, I can't hear (and see on the screen) ATIS infos.APU Gen is On and, as you tell me, I have this problem only when engines are off. With engines running all is ok. So, I think that all can be a battery problem. Also with another airplane, (PSS A320?) using FS2002, I experienced this problem and I can fixed it with "Extended battery" option of FSUIPC.Bye,Emanuele

Your Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) must be on, and your APU generator button must also be on. Try that. Dave Vega

Hi Dave,APU and APU Gen are on. Sorry for my previous not accurate reply ;-)Emanuele

Hi Dave,in these minutes I was testing my CRJ and I've noticed that also the external lights switch off (internal lights and avionics remain on) staying in 5 minutes with battery and APU (and APU Gen) on but engines off.It very seems the classical problem of "Extended battery", fixed by FSUIPC; but in the FS9 version this function is available only in the registered version that I don't have.Any suggestion? Thanks!!!

This was a continuing problem I had with the CRJ. Anytime I touched the FMC or did any manual tune I would lose communication. Several others reported the problem also. Hate to say it, but no solution was found which is one of the reasons the CRJ is not on my hard drive any more. Mike

Hi Mike,I remember to have written with you in the Feelthere forum. After several tests I'm thinking that this in not a FMC / radio panel problem but only an electrical power problem. In fact if a set all radios with engines on, all is ok.Emanuele

I saw the thread at the CRJ2 Feelthere forum. Looks like you've tried everything that I could suggest. I would try to reinstall the CRJ2. If this does not solve it, I don't know the answer. Sorry couldn't be of more help.Dave Vega

Many thanks Dave!Emanuele

"Hi Mike,I remember to have written with you in the Feelthere forum. After several tests I'm thinking that this in not a FMC / radio panel problem but only an electrical power problem. In fact if a set all radios with engines on, all is ok.Emanuele" Of course, I remember. You might want to try the ERJ-145. It's pretty good, and much less buggy than the CRJ. Flight model is a bit unstable, but the systems work beautifully. I use it second to the PMDG 737. Doesn't solve your CRJ problem, but I found it to be a good alternative if you are looking for a regional jet. I think feelthere learned some lessons with the CRJ and used those in developing the ERJ. Mike

Hi Mike,I'm thinking to buy the ERJ, but I love the CRJ so I'm trying to fix this problem. I'm thinking also to merge the Feelthere panel with a freeware model. I will try... ;-)I have flown for one year with PMDG 737, and I would like to come back to a little regional jet, waiting some great 757 (CS or PSS) or A320 (SSW...)!Bye,Emanuele
