DX10 increases VAS used & Frame Rates also deteriorate?

Featured Replies

Hi

I would be very grateful for some experienced user comment please.....

I have FSX Acc on i7 PC with NVIDIA GTX680 card and 3 monitors, currently running well in DX9

I am experimenting with migrating to DX10 from DX9 with a view to better graphics and lower VAS usage.. I have installed Steves Fixes and read and implemented Paul J's excellent 'How To' guide, plus numerous Forum posts on the subject ,

I think I have my FSX cfg set up properly for DX10 and likewise NVidia Inspector, though every example I have seen of that, is depicting NVInspector version 1.9.7.2 and mine is the later .3 version, which has numerous differences, so copying exact like for like settings to ensure an optimum setup for comparison is impossible.

My problem, is that while DX10 definitely looks better, sharper, more vivid, I am getting worse Frames and VAS readings than DX9, particularly with PMDG aircraft. For example a J41 at SkiathosX shows 150,000k more VAS usage and 14frames compaared to 24 in DX9.

Could others please confirm that they are finding a similar negative effect with DX10 Frames and VAS usage please? Could it be a setting problem somewhere?

If these benchmarks are typical and accurate, I will have to reconsider DX10 ad stay with DX9  as VAS is a real problem, as it is for many. others. I read somewhere that VAS should improve with DX10, as the graphics card does more work than with DX9, freeing up some CPU space?

Thanks in anticipation

Best wishes

Andrew
