Hello, I want to flight-sim fly a plane that might be considered a modern motor-glider; light weight, long wings, small-ish motor preferably Rotax, and I am still looking for steam gauges featuring the standard / classic six-pack of instruments. I have not found a freeware add-on that I am happy with, so now I am looking for a payware add-on. 

 

Of the following which is the best choice? 

 

H36 Dimona from Aerosoft for $26.95 

DA-20 Katana X from Aerosoft for $24.99

Diamond DA20-100 Katana 4X from Aerosoft for $29.95

 

Diamond Katana DA20-C1 from WS Simulation for $15.00

 

IRIS - Aviator Series Venture MG.1 [FSX] from Iris for $31.95 "inspired by the Grob 109B"

As a RW motor glider pilot I have all of them, but of course only the H36 and the G109B are motor gliders.

Aerosoft's H36 Dimona is, although a bit aged already, still a nice addon in FSX and offers you the most if you intend to fly it as airplane and as glider. I recommend you to download the user manual from Aerosoft's website prior to buying.

Iris' Venture (G109B) was a must for me because I fly the real one. Unfortunately, Iris missed to make a really good addon. The virtual cockpits looks quite simple and reminds to some freeware addons. Nevertheless, it flies nicely, although gliding/soaring is less realistic due to the lack of proper instruments and sub-par flight dynamics.

Aerosoft's Katana 4X is the successor of the outdated Katana X. It's a great simulation with beautiful virtual cockpit, good flight dynamics and a lot of additional features (see user manual). BUT it's not a motor glider.

For the good comparison of all of these products.  It is most excellent to hear from somebody who is a real world motor glider pilot and who has taken the time to explore many of the related add-ons.
