Prepar3d v5.4 Aircraft Recommendations
Flyfox replied to AS129 - Michael Johnson's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I chose PMDG‘s 747-400 and 747-8 over their 777. The jumbo is iconic and a pleasure to fly! I had iFly‘s 747-400 in P3DV4, but didn‘t get it work in V5. Switching to the PMDG 747 was a significant and worthy upgrade! -
Yes, indeed! Actually, I still keep 4.5 on my computer, but in the meantime I got 98% of my addons running on 5.4. The only exception is iFly‘s 747. Keep enjoying 4.5!

I‘m a very happy P3Dv5.4 user for the same reasons. My current sim time is 95% P3DV5.4 5% MSFS

SimWorks PC-12 Throttle Binding
Flyfox replied to SquadronLeader's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
I am using FSUIPC and don‘t have this problem at all. -
I had a similar problem with my Logitech mouse and keyboard which I run with one unifying USB receiver. Solution: From a thread about the same issue I got the hint that the USB 3.0 connector might be the problem. Consequently, I plugged the USB connector into a USB 2.0 port with the result that the keyboard and mouse lag has disappeared.

Which is your favorite Aircraft in VR?
Flyfox replied to JJ_'s topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
My absolute favorite is SWS‘s Pilatus PC-12, equipped with the TDS GTN750xi. -
Using G1000 in the sim, do you like it ?
Flyfox replied to Bushido5's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
Even in the real life the G1000 is not the easiest to operate. Pushing and rotating knobs is sometimes cumbersome and even distracting. But let‘s have a look at the evolution of those great pieces of equipment. The predecessor of the G1000 was the GNS430/530 series with their limited abilities and even more cumbersome handling. GTN650/750, G3000, G5000 followed. With each generation of GPS system, more user experience and more possibilities regarding the hardware (faster CPUs, larger LCDs with much higher resolution) resulted in significant performance steps and more and more user-friendly operation. For me, GA aircraft equipped with the incredibly successful GTN750 are my preferred aircraft in real life as well as in the sim. The touch-screen combined with a clever operating philosophy makes it a pleasure to use. -
License issue with paid version of PC-6
Flyfox replied to Matt Sdeel's topic in The MILVIZ Support Forum
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the aircraft? I used the PC-6 in P3DV4 and it also works in P3DV5.4 flawlessly. There is a free version from Milviz available now but it might only be compatible with V5. -
I used all versions of EZDOK and I am quite happy with V3 im my P3DV5 installation. Yes, the learning curve might be a bit steeper than for Chaseplane, but once you have set it up it‘s s joy to use. Can‘t imagine flying without. I use VR exclusively and call several cameras by speech commands (through VoiceAttack).

If you replace your motherboard and CPU, it is possible that the computer might boot again, but only if your new CPU is from the same manufacturer. But in any case you are advised to create a boot drive to recover the OS, in your case Windows 11, from your old HW and SW. I guess in your case you will have to install everything from the scratch. And yes, if you can‘t even enter the Bios, you might have to check the correct assembly again.

I think the installer for v5 is faulty and as it is freeware now, we cannot expect any more support or even a flawless installer. You will notice that besides the missing lights the autopilot does not work either. However, after integrating another autopilot (accessible via pop-up window), I still enjoy this aircraft.

I didn’t find a way to remove static aircraft at this airport either. And unfortunately, Flylogic has the absolute worst customer service I ever experienced. I never ever got any useful support or advice from them. Their arrogance and ignorance was unsurpassable.

SWS PC-12: Yaw Control and RNP Approach.
Flyfox replied to haseen's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020)
This instruction is confusing. Standard flap setting for takeoff is 15. After takteoff you will certainly retract the flaps rather than extend them. -
Your RTX2080i has 11 GB, but it should certainly be sufficient with low settings. Which headset are you using?

The importance of MAX_TEXTURE_REQUEST_DISTANCE

Great find! Thank you, Ray -

I have no problems with PMDG‘s 737 at all. It works well and everything is so smooth (I fly in VR only). Brilliant from my point-of-view. I also use GSX, which is not perfect in this sim (it was never perfect in the previous sims) but still adds to a great flight experience.
-
In the Windows sound settings you may have to activate the USB speakers (if your headset is connected through USB).
-
After loading a flight you just reload the aircraft with Ctrl+R and the cockpit sounds are back. If the outside sound is missing, pressing Q twice (Sound ON/OFF) might help.
-
I have no cockpit sound problems with any of my A2A aircraft in P3DV5.4. Which aircraft? And have you tried to reload the aircraft? I have noticed that if the sounds are missing in VR mode, reloading the aircraft brings the sounds back.
-
Thanks for your tipp! I indeed hadn‘t logged in. But it did not solve my problem: Yes, MSFS is the new flightsim leader, but I still enjoy many great aircraft including Aerosoft‘s Twotter in P3DV5. But I was looking for a ASC.dll, which is compatible with the marvelous Diamond DA-20 Katana. I consider this addon as the best GA aircraft in FSX. And I still enjoy it in P3DV5, though with some limitations. A lua script makes it possible, but unfortunately the amazing set if cockpit sounds requires a 64bit compatible ASC.dll. Neither the one from the Twotter nor the one from this download link does the job for the DA-20. It crashes P3D on loading when it is used. That‘s why I had some hope in this version, but they are all the same…
-
Do you possibly still have this dll file for P3DV4/5 from Aerosoft on your computer? Aerosoft does not provide a download link any longer. Their support for P3D is almost non-existent now …
-
You will not be disappointed at all! The 600 has the same cockpit and functionality as the larger versions. And due to its smaller size and weight it can operate from shorter runways, which makes it a very universal airliner in MSFS.

Importing FSX/FSX-SE Aircraft into Prepar3d
Flyfox replied to AS129 - Michael Johnson's topic in The Prepar3d Forum
Yes, copy/paste FSX aircraft to P3DV5 is possible for most more or less simple aircraft. But don‘t forget to also copy the gauges (if not in the aircraft gauge folder already) as well the effects linked to the specific aircraft (to be found in the FSX effects folder). However, you might loose the specific cockpit sounds. But again, for simple aircraft there are workarounds to get some of those sounds back. Complex addon aircraft can usually not successfully transferred like this; they most probably won‘t work.
