VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
Flyfox replied to Hamish100's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)I did the same but the lenses of my glasses started scratching the Quest 3 lenses. I changed to prescription lense inserts, which made wearing the Quest 3 significantly more comfortable. Btw, I got these lenses through AliExpress at a very good price.

VR 2026 Where are we and what do you recommend?
Flyfox replied to Hamish100's topic in Virtual Reality (VR) for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)This is indeed a high risk. I switched to VR several years ago, starting with an Oculus Rift S. My second headset was the HP Reverb G2 and currently I am happy with my Quest 3 in combination with an RTX 3090. For me, going back to 2D was never an option. VR ist just so much more realistic (as a holder of a PPL I know what I am talking about).

What Mouse Are You Using in VR
I hardly ever experienced a sim crash on exiting VR and I use VR exclusively. The only occasion I had a crash was when I used the Open XR Toolkit. It is not compatible with the latest 2024 version any longer.

What Mouse Are You Using in VR
I’m using a Logi trackball; very convenient. Besides, I assigned as many functions as possible to VoiceAttack speech phrases.

Have you tried with the right mouse button?

Pros and Cons of Beta
Finally, finally the EFB can be used properly in VR! It was always a pain to have the oversized panel somewhere, unable to resize it. For this alone it was worth it for me to join the Beta again.

Should I trust Chat GPT regarding this about Quest 3
Correct; with the additional headstrap the Q3 is even better balanced.

iFly 737 "9-Month Silence" SP1 for MSFS
I’m with you. I’m happily flying PMDG’s 737 instead.

I’d say the difference is significant. But using a separate bluetooth headphone gives me a much better sound experience than with both headset speakers.

Yes, the Reverb has the better speakers, but the sound of my in-ear bluetooth headset (soundcore Liberty 4 NC) is by far better than that of any built-in speaker. And it has the advantage that the speaker sound does not disturb the microphone. For me, it’s absolutely worth the hassle.

I “tried on” my old Reverb G2 again and I must say the Quest is at least as comfortable as the Reverb, at least if combined with the above mentioned head strap.

The Quest 3 is as comfortable as the Reverb. However, the sound isn’t really great. That’s why I use a bluetooth headset, which also has a better microphone. The latter is important for me as I use many voice commands (with VoiceAttack). I must add that I purchased the KIWI Design K4 Boost Comfort Battery Head Strap. This product not only makes the Quest more comfortable but also increases the battery autonomy significantly. And for very long sessions it can be charged while using it.

I switched from Reverb G2 to Quest 3 two years ago already and I couldn’t be happier with this solution. For me the overall image quality is significantly better and the Virtual Desktop makes it easy to set it up (the cable version didn’t work properly for me). I can run it at 200Mb/s and “Godlike” quality in spite of my somewhat outdated RTX3090. I don’t need a separate router; my Wifi 6 capable router is plenty enough. I had some CTDs recently and found out that they were caused by the Open XR Toolkit in combination with Virtual Desktop. Instead I use the simulator option “foveated rendering” which works very well. In addition, AutoFPS optimizes my OLOD and TLOD dynamically, which results in stable 36fps (limited in the sim, 72fps in Virtual Desktop).

FlightFX Honda Jet breaks MSFS2024 so far for me!
The HJet runs perfectly fine in my MSFS 2024 installation … including the ESC key.

Which Military Jet ?
I prefer Justflight’s Bae Hawk T1/A. It’s a two-seat trainer jet, has quite some system modeled and flies wonderfully.

MSFS 2024: PMDG 737-900 Available
No need to wait (and pay); the MSFS2020 -600 works very well in MSFS2024.

not raging ... well, kinda my PMDG editorial
Oh, I was not aware of this. That’s unfortunate indeed. So again, free upgrades are a really weak point with PMDG …

I also bought the 737-600 for MSFS 2020 and I still use it successfully and flawlessly in MSFS 2024. It’s reliable, smooth and not very resource hungry, in short: A very pleasant experience! In addition that purchase allowed me to buy the 737-800 for MSFS 2024 at the special upgrade price. I’m very satisfied with both aircraft.

PMDG 738 update v 4.00.007 available 13JAN26
You probably don’t change the options for each flight, do you? Going through the 20 pages now and then is rather fun for me and I’m always amazed about how many options are available. This addon is still one of my favorites and it performs so smoothly and reliably in MSFS 2024.

Airbus or Boeing ?
If you want the more modern aircraft you should choose the Airbus.

PMDG 737 2024 - Wobble?
No chaseplane here, no wobbling. Runs wonderfully.

Weird Quest 3 / WiFi Issue
I am talking about a dedícated router exklusively for the Quest 3; it should not cause any problem with your main router. I use a Wifi mesh from TP-Link and observe no problem at all, although many other devices are connected to the same network.
