June 10, 200520 yr Have an interview with Mesaba coming up, wondering if there are any realistic (freeware or payware) saab aircraft with realistic cockpits? The one listed on the file section here, doesn't have 2 autopilots on the top, the panel and avionics didn't look anything like what a Mesaba Saab looks like.
June 10, 200520 yr I heard the newhires were going into the CRJs.What kind of sim are they doing the sim eval in at the interview?
June 10, 200520 yr First of all, CONGRATS on your interview! I know it's a major accomplishment for you and I congratulate you on that.Second, there is a payware 340 coming out soon, but it probably won't be out until after your interview. I think OSS is doing it... Dan
June 10, 200520 yr Often times they do the interview check in whatever sim is open. When I was interviewing for a possible Beech or Saab job I ended up doing my interview check in a Shorts 360 sim because it was available. Unless you already have time as an FO or Capt in type they don
June 10, 200520 yr Author Every time the pilot's contracts and therefore the Mesaba contract comes up for Mesaba's NW Airlink affiliation, NWA says demands are too much and they will switch to Pinnacle (I believe they own quite a percent of that) according to the local Minneapolis press here. Pinnacle has the CRJs and Mesaba flies Saab340Bs and RJ-85s as far as published liveries back a couple of years ago.I emulate Mesaba and use Mike Stone's aircraft (RJ and Saab) with a panel I customized from other panel downloads and some payware. If they stated that they wanted you qualified on a CRJ I wonder what plans thay might have.Since you are in Detroit, you might want to look at Pinnacle.Either way it is a great opportunity to break-in to commercial transport pax service and log those hours. When you are at KMSP look in the under gate region for The Stop-Over Store. They might have some material to assist you. I'm told you must have employee security clearance to go there. On their web site they list a Saab 340 systems prep manual. http://www.stopoverstore.com/ which you can order via e-mail. They have some training material there if you want to brief.
