Austin vs UNILOC Lawsuit

Recommended Posts

I asked in the Austin Meyers interview thread, whether anyone knew the status of this suit. I found some interesting information regarding Patent Troll suits, that seem to have gone unnoticed, and didn't want to hijack that thread. Looks like  good news for Austin. In July 2014 The US Supreme Court unanimously ruled that ideas alone can not be patented,  I don't know how this will affect this suit, but I would think it certainly weakens UNILOC's claim!!

There are predator corporations or individuals who make a living on patent claims.  I think most people and hopefully judges and courts, will see some of the patent laws for what damage they do rather than for the letter of the (bad) law.  So many of our laws in recent years are conglomerations of bits and pieces thrown together by politicians who don't think them through or never read everything that's in the law.
