March 30, 201511 yr Has anyone figured out how to eliminate the screech when you are on final and slow below 160 while clean? Thanks
March 30, 201511 yr Moderator Why are you attempting a 'no flaps' landing to begin with? The 'screech' is warning you of an unsafe condition. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
March 30, 201511 yr Author Well, Fr, as you know, there are situations where you want to stay clean fairly late in the approach in this aircraft. What provoked me to ask this was today I was landing at BOS RW 22L. I was on an 8 mile or so final at 1500 agl wanting to maintain 140-160 until the glide slope came alive. Well, the screech goes off and the only way to stop it is to set flaps 7 and lower the gear, slowing to 130 or so against a 10 knot headwind waiting for a 767 or such to overtake me and one of us gets invited to go around. I'd be ok with it if there was a button to push to silence the thing, a la Boeing aircraft. No thought of no flaps landing, just trying to stay out of the way of the big boys at a busy airport.
March 30, 201511 yr Moderator Ah, so there's no override button for gear silence. I see. I don't own the product, but I suspect that if you looked in the sound.cfg file you would find the entry for gear warning and disable it there. Look for: [GEAR_UP_WARNING_SOUND] filename=somefilename Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
