June 22, 200520 yr Just curious, but has anyone heard anything about FS 06? I just realized that it will be exactly 2 years in about a month since FS 04 was released. By now we usually have some sneak peeks or articles coming out. Thanks. Tom
June 22, 200520 yr Considering that the FS2004 survey is still going on, I doubt that anything has been set in stone for FS10, other than the fact that there will be an FS10. Not that many of us are in a hurry to get a new version. FS2004 still proves to be a very vibrant simulator.
June 22, 200520 yr Try a search for FS 2006 - you'll find more than you ever wanted to know :-) . The short answer, IMNSHO, is that it's looking like the middle of next year. June 22, 200520 yr There might, or might not, be some sort of information about a possible new version of FS, or perhaps the current version, at the International Flightsim Conference in July.Victor
June 22, 200520 yr "Official"? From what source did you glean this knowledge? Inquiring minds want (need) to know. June 22, 200520 yr Quote from the JustFlight website:"Almost from the horse's mouth, we met with those that know in LA at E3 and it is now clear that Microsoft plan the next release of their de-facto Flight Simulator during the summer of 2006. So no panic please, a new version is not about to launch - which gives all flight sim fans plenty of time to enjoy the latest incarnation (FS2004) before the new version ships. Fear not, we will keep you all informed as to the developments of the new version, as and when Microsoft actually make their intentions clear "Gary
June 22, 200520 yr Unfortunately, it appears that "those that know in LA" didn't include the FS team. This quote from JustFlight has been widely quoted for some time now but until there is direct word from the MS team nothing is "official". I doubt Microsoft will allow Avsim, Flightsim and the other major sites to get "scooped" by such a leak. Microsoft is a public company, and when the timeline for FS2006 is ready, they will make a very public announcement. Nobody "in the know" who cares about their job--and wishes to avoid prison, is going to leak info about a forthcoming product. There may be Microsoft staff that make deductions based on which way the wind is blowing, but I doubt they are very close to the FS2006 project and they skirt very dangerous ground by dropping hints--assuming that's even the case since some sites like to make news when things are quiet on the news front. In a public company I used to work for, one mid level exec let leak a rumor about a possible merger--he didn't work on any of the teams involved, but deduced it from the fact that meetings were taking place in a city where only one major player resided in our business. He didn't go to prison, but he was canned on the spot and lost a six figure severance. He was right, but for all the wrong reasons.-John
