GNS430 - Save Flightplan?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to figure out how to save a flightplan in the A36's GNS430. Anyone know?

I think you are making the same mistake as I made in the beginning... You press the FLP button, modify the plan, edit points, delete points, etc. and then you want to save it... which you can't. And that's because this is not the right way to do it! Here's how you make a plan the official way.1. Click on PLN. Now you see the active flight plan.2. Rotate the small right knob to go to the flight plan catalog! Here you will see a list of already saved plans.3. Click in MENU and choose Create New Flight Plan?4. You will get an empty plan. Add waypoints and edit the plan anyway you want to.5. The plan is saved automatically. When you're done, disable the cursor, click on MENU and choose Activate Flight Plan? (This is also the way to activate other saved plans). In case you didn't know: you can download the official manual from the Garmin site: everything works like the real thing, so... This information about creating plans is on page 54 of the GNS430_PilotsGuide.pdf

I always use the Copy Flight Plan function to save the plans. You can get it with the MENU button when in the FPL page.

Awesome... thanks guys. What a great deal on getting those three RealityXP gauges, along with a top-quality plane for 25 bucks, huh? I'm thinking about picking up a GNS530 sometime. Anyways, thanks again!

What does this "copy"? Does it copy a loaded FS9 flight plan to the GPS, without having to enter the data? While I appreciate the fidelity of being able to load flight plans "the real way," I'm sometimes too impatient and like how they are automatically loaded into the default GPS.Basil
