FSX Crashes before it starts

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have encountered a problem with FSX recently. I have not used it in over a week and decided to do a flight. However, when I started it up it crashed on the splashscreen it did not fully load to the point where you can choose your aircraft etc. While starting it repeatedly I got a message that it was unable to write to the FSX.cfg. I deleted the FSX.cfg in hopes that it would fix the problem but it did not. I am stumped as to what is causing these crashes and do not want to have to reinstall so any help would be appreciated.

Do you have any FS Dreamteam airports installed? If so, download the lastest Addon Manager and installed it.

If that does not work, move your logbook.bin (located in My Documents/Flight Simulator X Files) to a temporary folder and restart FSX.

If that does not work, if you have Acceleration installed, uninstall it by going in the Add/Remove Program and uninstalling FSX (FSX will not be uninstalled, just Acceleration). Restart FSX and see if this fixes the problem. If so, reinstall Acceleration.

If you have SP2 installed instead of Acceleration, click on the SP2.exe and you should get an option to remove or repair. Try a repair first.
