NOD32 Anti Virus Problem

Featured Replies

I love NOD32 because of its small footprint. And it does a really good job, EXCEPT on my flight sim machine, when I exit a flight or have been using FS 2004 and flying. When I shut down my computer, IMON the Internet Monitor function crashes, and I have to kill its process (End Now) prior to shutting down. It does this every single timeI have tried uninstalling it and re-installing it, but no resolution.Any Ideas?Barry

Sorry to inform you but I also hasve NOD 32 on the computer that I fly FS2004 on and as far as I can tell, it does NOT interfere with the operation of Fs2004 or shutting down at all. I don't know too much about this program except that it runs, without any problems in the background. I do, do a virus scan with it occastionaly (sic). {sic] MEANS I KNOW a mistake had been made or an error that I know about exists. Jerrycwo4

I use NOD32 too, and have no problems with it and FS together. I'm sure your problem is caused by something else. I have always left NOD32 running during FS sessions, and have never experienced any problems at all. I hope you find the cause of the problem, but I'm pretty sure it's not NOD32.RegardsGrahame (EDHL)

I can third that. I have been using N0D32 for quite a while and have had zero interaction issues with any of my software (including FS9).

Long shot. See if the all the entries in the Client compatibility is in "Higher compatibility".Jos

Explain? Client Compatibility?? Is this a setting for NOD32 or Windows XP or what? Thanks!Barry

Thanks Jose for the forum link.Well, I still have the IMON problem. I am also running version 2.5.I tried your suggestion and under the IMON setup I selected the defaults. I even repaired the Network connections on that same IMON dialog.I sent an email to ESET and I hope they have a solution. It is not really a CTD, the IMON process just hangs. And I kill it by End Now. And ONLY after I load Flight Simulator 2004 and select a flight, sit at the airport for a few minutes, then shut FS 2004 down. When I shut down Windows XP, I get the Windows End Now screen IMON being the culpret.Any other suggestions? It is ANNOYING!Barry

I have had issues with NOD32's IMON and Squawkbox in the past - there was an incompatibility between those two which caused issues. Setting compatibility and exception rules against squawkbox.exe fixed it for me. Do you have any 3rd party addons which may be talking to the Internet when you run them? IMON may "activate" itself if those addons are talking to the internet, and then when FS2004 shuts down perhaps that addon isn't sending the proper termination codes to IMON, so IMON remains open and running against that program. When the PC is powered down, it may STILL think that the addon is running, and thats why it hangs.Do you use real-world weather in FS2004? Try disabling the download of weather. I use ActiveSky and have had no probs with IMON, but I have never used the actual FS2004 weather download. (???)Just some ideas...-Greg

Hey Greg,I contacted NOD32 technical support and they sent this solution:Go NOD32 Control Center (down by the clock) > IMON > Setup > Miscellaneous > Edit > Add. From here, please browsre to the folder that the game is located in, and add the executables on to the exclusion list. After backing out of there, please let us know if this corrects the issue.I did this and it has no problems hanging.Take care!Barry

Glad to hear that solved it for you! That is what I did back when I had a problem with Squawkbox, and it worked for me as well. I was under the assumption you had already tried this and it still wasn't working!Happy flying,-Greg
