Really can't understand, if flight is dead why is MS asking our favourite planes, doing contests and going in to meetings. Is flight really dead? or MS only stopped development and there are other plans in the horizon?

Decision is made I'm going (again) in to simulation hibernation mode.

There is one thing that I didn't understood in ACES closing and see the same trend now. Lot of people talk about doing a simulator and if they look down in the forums there is one just ready to be used as a platform: Flightgear. Really can't understand why there is a need for doing something from scratch or buy code when you have an open platform. And if you are a developer and want to make some money why do you use a commercial platform and be subjected to another enterprise wishes.

Just went to a flight simulation store and asked for Alaska related products and found it. I know that there are several freeware mesh, usually STRM ones.

Just to put in perspective Alaska in flight costs less than an Alaska mesh in FSX and more or less the same as a FSX mission pack.

I did a brief check. Found some new challenges (landings). Quick look in to the jobs didn't show anything new but a job is a job can't imagine anything else than carrying cargo or passengers. Anyway it could be fun to try to replicate a FWA episode even without the correct planes.

It would be nice to have some AI but weather dynamics is in top of my list. Real weather conditions doesn't appeal to me but dynamic conditions can be a challenge.

Never used ATC in FS since since always believed that VATSIM was the way to go for controlled flights. But some AI would be nice. Since I was involved in a FS beta only because I made a program and that saw the idea incorporated I can assure that, at least in previous versions, they do listen.

Maybe this is what is called a middle age crisis since I'm about same age and felling the same. One of these days I will see you doing some MTB :)

Of course not. The things is that each one believes that knows what is expected from the ideal simulator. And often we don't agree. In fact, from my personal view, the best simulator is Flight Gear. But I know that 99.99% of AVSIM users don't agree with me and it's an empty discussion trying to show my point of view, even when the arguments are things like "if it's free it's sucks". If someone thinks that the best simulator is the one that allows complex system like PMDG airliners it's also an empty discussion trying to show the benefits (or pseudo benefits) of flight.

I agree with the above statements and, in my case, 0€ investment in a new PC. A dual core with a 7600 from FS9 days beta gives me the necessary conditions.

And next time wake windows, switch to flight and continue the flight. I have a big problem with finals (always had) something always needs my attention. Last time I was on final and needed to go away from computer. when come back, my daughter had switched profiles and hibernated the computer. Just to see what could happen. Waked the computer, switched back to my profile and maximized flight. It connected back to Live and presented me the resume dialogue. After that I was able to finish the mission. Good news for that late flights.

The only solution found so far is to change regional settings in Windows. Not a great solution but so far it's the only one.
