April 13, 201214 yr Well I have said all along I would not purchase any plane without a VC. I must fess up, today I went back on this. Due to seeing some other threads of folks flying from within the shell of a cockpit by moving the eyepoint back, I went ahead and purchased it today. I guess I just wanted to see something a little different and used the fact I can at least feel like I am flying from within, rather than from outside, as justifcation. That and I want to continue to support Flight as it progresses... after all they have stated they are working on Track IR implementation, and plus I already had a few MS points left over from the original DLC purchases I had made. Have not spent much time in the air with it yet, but it seems fun to fly at least. I wish the engine had more of a beefier sound to it, but it is not too bad. And yes the first thing I did was patiently move that eyepoint back, to get me into that cockpit shell and that is how I am flying it. No checklist, but at least the fuel mixture and prop rpm work appropriately. I am going to have to try out the hoop challenges again and see how I do in this fast plane, should be fun. Don B
April 13, 201214 yr I might have to get it, myself. Is there a thread describing how to set the eye point back such that it stays put between sessions? Or is it something you quickly tweak everytime you fly it? Just curious.
April 13, 201214 yr Author Is there a thread describing how to set the eye point back such that it stays put between sessions? Nope just move it back, leave it as is and it will stay there. Don't hit the reset eyepoint key, and you will be fine. If I had to move that back everytime that would be a different story cause it is kind of a slow go. So far for me, I have exited and re-entered the Flight program 3 times , and each time upon loading it back up to fly the eyepoint was exactly where I left it. Btw - because it is really the shell one would view from the exterior of the airplane, you do also have the pilot features in there as well - where I have my eyepoint set, I see the legs, arms and hands of the pilot. April 13, 201214 yr If you want to keep your Eyepoint position, just save a game. Then every time you want to use the COCKPITLESS aircraft you just reload the game. You can then change airports, weather, etc. Having fun is the name of the game. Enjoy! Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 13, 201214 yr Glad to know I am not alone :-) Got the p51 this week and will probably get the Zero next... depending on the price of "ALASKA"... I an glad I aded it to my Hangar. The last few times I fired up FLIGHT were to use the p51 :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
April 13, 201214 yr Author If you want to keep your Eyepoint position, just save a game. Hmm mine stayed the same without saving - though I did start my new flight from the same airport and same weather scheme. So are you saying if I change airports and/or weather that will not be the case? Don B
April 13, 201214 yr Traitors. I'll think of u guys when the next plane has no cockpit :-) Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556

Don; what I'm saying is if you change planes and do missions/challenges or whatever and then you want to use your COCKPITLESS P-51, then you load the saved game and you will get the same eyepoint as when you left the plane. Once you load your saved game (with eyepoint in place) you can change airports and weather, no problem there. Also, if by mistake you hit the reset view key, you won't have to redo the move eyepoint thing again. Traitors. I'll think of u guys when the next plane has no cockpit :-) I'm already thinking of them =) Ramón. Time, is the one thing no one can buy.
April 13, 201214 yr Commercial Member and who can blame ms for not adding a cockpit to their planes !! - they are right !! planes must not have a cockpit ! it is useless !!
April 13, 201214 yr Author Ok so I went in and changed to an activity - one of the hoop challenges, and then also tried free flight at other airports. My eyepoint stayed exactly where I had originally set it on the very first flight, with no save game. Granted if I screw up and hit the reset eyepoint button I will have to go through it all again, so I will probably go ahead and save one to be safe. Yeah I know I am a traitor, I was dead set against purchasing it - if it were not for the fact I could move the eyepoint back and at least feel I was flying inside the cockpit, I never would have got it... April 14, 201214 yr I may get it along with my Zero because my son really likes the Mustang too. www.stratoart.com Fine Art by Dale Jackson "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings..." High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
April 14, 201214 yr Not a traitor, no. How else are you going to get up to 32000 ft where you'll be given an altitude achievement, or go fast enough to fly the length of the island chain? Mike Beckwith
April 14, 201214 yr A non-stop hop from Maui to Kauai takes long enough in the P51 - I wouldn't try it in any of the slower birds because I just don't have the time. Mike Beckwith
April 14, 201214 yr Really? I flew 700 miles to Johnston Atoll and I don't even have a silly cockpit-less high-speed warbird.
