July 21, 200520 yr I have had to stop using the kneeboard. I can open it and move between "pages" but whenever I start to scroll though any page FS9 crashes as in closes, disappears, vanishes in a puff of smoke, ....The same thing happens if I try to view the learning centre when in a flight. The learning centre is fine when viewed from the FS9 main menu ie flight not created or loaded.I had thought at first that using Firefox as my web browser that might have some strange connection. I tried resetting Internet Explorer as the default browser but no change.I'm not going to reload and will cope without it's just something that keeps getting on my nerves and of course having a kneeboard would be handy.Any thoughts?Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
July 21, 200520 yr You're not alone, I've learned to live without it. Would be handy to have again though with some of the add-on capabilities out there.Jay EklundCAT VI Second Officer KDENhttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/812321/764.png Jay EKlund UVA/GCVA Pile-it

The culprit was some stupid piece of software called Viewpoint. It installs along with AIM. Someone was kind enough to tell me this fact after trying anything and everything to figure this out. See if you have this software and remove it. Hope this helps!
July 21, 200520 yr I had exactly the same problem several months ago. Touch the kneeboard scrolling bar and FS9 would crash. I ended up reinstalling FS9 (ugh!!) and it still crashed (indicating it was NOT FS9 but a hardware issue). I manually reinstalled my ATI video card drivers and the problem was fixed. When you manually reinstall, select the following INF under ATIDrivers: CX_24085.INF (for an XP system). I always uninstall and reinstall ATI drivers in accordance with their instructions and even use a file cleaner. For some reason, I believe ATI fails to load a registry entry when upgrading ATI drivers on my system or the entries are corrupted since DirectX and other programs always indicate my drivers are installed correctly and there are no problems. Yeah? Tell that to FS9 and the kneeboard!!! Hope this helps. Jim
July 21, 200520 yr Thanks Tom that did the trick. I really must study on the "how to look for an answer on the web" thing. If you haven't read the post link from Tom it is indeed viewpoint. I have just read that viewpoint does not uninstall from Control Panel despite what you may see when you try to. It resides in the main AIM folder.Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

You can be sure it's removed once you're no longer able to see those animated buddy icons in AIM because they use Viewpoint.
