Sound problems

Featured Replies

I have two sound cards, one for speakers, another for headphones.

All the voices that come with MCE, sound in the headphones as i set up (via "Assign Sound Device" tool, and manual also).

But when i assign a TTS voice that not comes with MCE is sound in the primary sound device, in this case the speakers.

I can not set the headphones as primary device due a configuration problem.

Why MCE do not reproduce all the voices in the headphones as i set up?

The pre-recorded voices are played using Direct Sound (part of Direct X), and we have complete control over that process. I mean can direct sound to any device based on user option.

Regarding TTS voices...

Normally, MCE could also direct those voices to user device choice.

However, Windows gives users the ability to specify a particular audio output for a given TTS voice (assigned per voice). You may have changed it in the past and forgot about it.

Go to Windows Control Panel

Start <Speech Recognition> applet

In next screen, On the left pane, click "Test to speech".

<Speech properties> window will appear.

Select each installed voice font and click <Advanced>

Ensure the voice font isn't tied to a specific audio device (select "Use preferred audio output device"). Eventually set it to your preferred device, if the auto select doesn't work as expected.

If i select "Use preferred audio device" it go to the speakers, becuse is the main device.

I think i will just choose one voice that come with MCE, are nice too. I will download a few more from MCE web for try.

The voices i try to use are fom Cepstral, and i use it for voxatc. I will have more variety.

Do not worry.
