July 29, 200520 yr Has anybody tried to install this chopper? Its determined to not install in the aircraft folder, when I get it resituated, it fails to show up in COF.I have gone thru the files to check them out. seems okay but I'm definantly missing somethingI can patch up an automobile but apparently a little short when it comes to rotors. I remember flat-head v-8's were easy.Old Guy JimC. July 29, 200520 yr I've got a Bell 47 installed that works fine. Don't remember the filename, but it was freeware and french. The folder in the aircraft folder is called bell47gmaxskid. I enjoy flying this one.Regards
July 29, 200520 yr Author Thanks for replies, one of you nudged my brain awake, I was convinced the accompaning readme stated you had to remove the original, seems that was from some other late night read. And looking at the files included again, there is no model folder. that would put a damper on startup. I'll have to look up Jean-Maries Bell 47 again. I'll let you know when I get it sorted. Thanks, JimC. July 29, 200520 yr Author I've gotten a hold of the original bell 47 for fs2k2 and then found the fs2k4 update. And yes it is as nice as I remember it. I went and enstalled the bell47_piston patch and it still is a negative, it doesn't even touch the original folder for the 47.I shan't give up, forward I go to clear this up!JimC. August 1, 200520 yr Try telling the piston upgrade to install into some other folder that is otherwise empty. Go into that folder and then you can see from the installed file structure what files need to be replaced. (ie the installer makes some files in C/Folder/bell47/sound then cut&paste those into C/fs9/bell47/sound)
August 1, 200520 yr Personally I did not like the piston upgrade. Made the helo hard to fly. There were other reasons too, but I cannot think of them now.
August 1, 200520 yr Author Well, I've got it sorted, reinstalled the 47 piston then copied the originals model folder over to the piston.I really like the new sound file.But...I installed the training hud I found at HoverConrol, which I really kind of like because you can monitor the dynamics in the flight models.I got on a new kick downloading and installing more rotors. After installing the hud in those, I've come to the conclusion that the default robinson and 206 are actually pretty good. Surprises me!and that is with settings on hard. The one offering that I sort of like is the OH (42g?) also found at HoverControl. Each to his, or her own opinion, I've got plenty of slow fixed wings so I think I'll clear up space and just keep the default choppers. It did make for an interesting sunday afternoon though!JimC.
