Installing FSX with Windows 10

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am trying to install FSX on Windows 10, but I get an error message during the initial installation while 'removing applications'.

The error message I get is "Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."

Followed by:

"Error:-1603 Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated to help resolve this.

Best regards,

A322

Most likely you do not have permission to install FSX as you do not have Administrative rights.  Try right clicking on the Windows Installer program for installing FSX (probably setup.exe).  Then select run as administrator.

You should also disable UAC (User Access Controls) - http://winaero.com/blog/how-to-turn-off-and-disable-uac-in-windows-10/

Make sure any anti-virus program is not running during the installation as it sometimes finds "false-positives" and places important files into quarantine.  Make sure you install FSX in a non-default folder.  Here's a link to a good program on how to install FSX properly - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx

EDIT:  Forgot to add that the cyclic redundancy check error indicates a problem with your HDD.  You might need to run a program to check your disk for errors - http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Cyclic-Redundancy-Check-Error
