Taxi light switch assignment...where is it?

Featured Replies

Hello!I have a question about the taxi light(s) in FS9 aircraft.Does anyone know if there is a way to assign a key on the keyboard or a joystick button to just the taxi light(s)? In the assignments settings I can find the landing lights, all lights, center lights, strobe lights, ect. but there is no TAXI LIGHT option that I can see.I would like to be able to switch between the taxi and landing light seperately by pressing a button on my throttle quadrant.I would think that the taxi light assignment option would have been available in the FS9 settings, but I can't seem to find one. Thanks!Scott :-)

There isn't a way to do this through the Key Assignments dialog. Sorry. :(

The registered version of FSUIPC will allow for button or key assignments for this and many other FS functions not covered in the normal key assignment menu. I use it to get the most out of my ACP Compact and CH Yoke/Pedals/Throttle Quadrant.

Hi Scott,If you don't have the registered version of FSUIPC (which allows you to assign any FS command to a button or key), you can make the assignment manually. The simplest way:- Start FS2004.- In the Options-COntrols-Assignment menu, assign a button of your controller to another function; e.g. to "all lights on/off"- Exit FS2004, and open the fs9.cfg file with Notepad.- Find the lineBUTTON_DOWN_EVENT_**=ALL_LIGHTS_TOGGLEin the JoystickMain section of your throttle controller and replace the string ALL_LIGHTS_TOGGLE with TOGGLE_TAXI_LIGHTS- Save the fs9.cfg file and start FS2004 again. The button will now toggle the Taxi lights on/off.Note however, that a some lot of aircraft have not modelled real taxilights to work with this Taxilights command (either in it's model, or in the aircraft.cfg file). In that case, the above assignment is pointless. But it should work for e.g. the default Cessna 172, which has a separate Taxilight switch in it's panel.Cheers, Rob

Thanks everybody!I do have the registered version of FSUIPC, so I will follow the instructions as listed above! Thanks for your help!Scott :-beerchug
