August 11, 200520 yr Some time ago I had to uninstall Activesky 2004.5 because clicking its icon stopped loading activesky and started trying to install something with some installshield wizard... Now, I have absolutely no idea where the activesky 2004.5 installer file is.... I suspect it's on a cd or dvd somewhere, but so far no luck.....Since I can no longer redownload it from simmarket, I'm actually now considering buying the ASV upgrade.... But, my question is: Now that ASV's been out awhile, how are the framerates compared to 2004.5? The 2004.5 version introduced enough of a framerate hit (but not quite enough to make FS unflyable), just want to make sure ASV won't be too much worse.... :)Thanks Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE

The new ASV has it's own clouds and some are more frame rate friendly than others. You might want to post this question on the Active Sky Forum on this website.
August 11, 200520 yr You also have the choice to pay Simmarket 3.99$ and your download is available to you for another year.OHN

August 11, 200520 yr Actually, I stumbled onto the file sometime after I posted that, and got too busy flying to remember to post an update here.... Filename at simmarket was different from the actual file I got, so I was searching the wrong filename on my hdd... So, I'm back up and running as far as activesky goes... :) But, thanks :)Still considering the 5 upgrade though... :) Declared weather: FSX: ASN / FS9: ASE
August 11, 200520 yr ASV is worth the upgrade. i go all the way back to wxRE with every increment in between. I did have to move ASV over to a second computer and use it via WideFS to take some load off my computer but that wasn't strictly ASV fault, my sim is jammed with modules and add ons. At least ASV permits me to use it via WideFS (and even offers some advantages to doing so). The new environment variables are really nice but I am a stickler for flight planning and what attracts me is that the weather forecasting is better in this version. There are some nice improvements in the options as well.
